The cast of HBO's "True Blood" just got even better looking with the addition of Daniel Buran as Raoul, the werewolf packmaster of Shreveport.
According to TVLine Buran, whose credits include appearances on "CSI: NY", "Criminal Minds", and Southland, as well as "CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker’s digi-novel Level 26: Dark Origins, will appear in roughly seven episodes of the upcoming fourth season.
Expect additional "True Blood" casting news over the coming weeks as filming is currently under way for Season 4, which is scheduled to debut in the summer of 2011. For more visit HBO's official "True Blood" site.

True Blood‘s werewolf hierarchy is about to experience a tectonic shift.
Daniel Buran is joining the HBO smash as Raoul, the werewolf packmaster of Shreveport. By my calculations, that makes him Alcide’s boss!
Buran, whose credits include appearances on CSI: NY, Criminal Minds and Southland, as well as CSI creator Anthony Zuiker’s digi-novel Level 26: Dark Origins, will appear in roughly seven episodes of TB‘s upcoming fourth season.

Daniel Buran (Level 26: Dark Origins) has joined the cast of Alan Ball's vampire drama True Blood for a meaty seven-episode arc on the upcoming fourth season. The actor, repped by Rebel and Leverage, will play Raoul, the werewolf packmaster of Shreveport. Iranian-born character actor Shaun Toub (Iron Man, The Last Airbender) has been added to the cast of another HBO drama series, the upcoming Luck, as a recurring. Luck, a David Milch/Michael Mann collaboration starring Dustin Hoffman, takes a provocative look at horse racing -- the owners, gamblers, jockeys and industry players. Abrams Artists-repped Toub will play Doctor Khan, a local emergency room doctor with a surprisingly complicated backstory.

NBC’s 30 Rock got a big boost from its star-studded live episode last night. The episode, which featured appearances by Matt Damon, Jon Hamm, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Liz Lemon in flashbacks as well as several SNL alums, drew a 3.0/9 in adults 18-49, up 43% from last week and a season high. There was a halo effect on the two series surrounding 30 Rock: its lead-in, Community (2.6/8) was up 22%, its lead-out, The Office (3.7/10), was up 6%. NBC’s gaines stopped at 9:30 Pm, with new comedy Outsourced (2.5/7) and The Apprentice (1.3/4) both flat with last week. Outsourced’s retention (68%) dropped below 70% for the first time, while The Apprentice’s days in the high-profile Thursday 10 Pm slot have got to be numbered after 3 consecutive weeks at a 1.3. Promising uptick for freshman CBS comedy $#*! My Dad Says (3.1/9, 10.1 million), which was up 7% from last week in 18-49 despite its lead-in, The Big Bang Theory (4.1/13, 12.5 million) being flat. (Big...

With CSI in production on its 11th season, creator Anthony Zuiker realized his show needed "event" episodes, he says, "to fight for every eyeball you can." To that end, he's written tonight's chilling installment — his first CSI script since one he wrote in 2006 for CSI: NY.
"I desperately wanted to go back to CSI because I sorely missed it," explains Zuiker, who also launched a popular book series. In 2009, he released Level 26: Dark Origins, featuring lawman Steve Dark hunting down a crazed serial killer named Sqweegel...

There is a familiar face in the CSI writers room this summer, series creator Anthony Zuiker, who has returned to the mothership series. A decade ago, Zuiker was an young writer with no TV credits when he created CSI and was paired with showrunners Carol Mendelsohn and Ann Donahue. He had hands-on involvement on the CBS show for the first 4 years, first alongside Mendelsohn and Donahue and then alongside Mendelsohn who became the series' sole showrunner in 2002 when Donahue took over the reins of spinoff CSI: Miami. Two years later, Zuiker moved over to spinoff CSI: NY, which he ran the first season. For the past several years, he had taken a back seat in the day-to-day operations on the 3 CSI series while developing new projects under his deal with CBS TV Studios and pursuing other projects, such as his digi-novel Level 26: Dark Origins. That changed earlier this summer...

Several weeks ago we told you about the launch of the Level 26 iPhone app and digi-novel, and today we have an exclusive premiere of a "cyber bridge" (basically, a video clip) from the app, which plays out a few of the chapters of the digi-novel. This particular cyber bridge stars genre vet Michael Ironside and 24's Glenn Morshower.
Level 26: Dark Origins (review here) takes full advantage of the revolutionary iPhone and iTunes Extras platforms to create a cinematic experience that flows naturally between chapters. Level 26: Dark Origins, the first-ever digi-novel, is now available from the App Store, iTunes Extras, and in print.
The first in a trilogy, Level 26: Dark Origins, was written by CSI creator Anthony E. Zuiker, with Duane Swierczynski, and tells the gripping tale of a forensic proof serial killer so terrifying that his very existence has been concealed from the public. Following every 20 pages of prose,...

Anthony Zuiker's Level 26: Dark Origins (review here) debuted this past September and represented the first true integration of a novel with a companion web series. And now, with the release of the Level 26 iPhone app and desktop movie through iTunes, we have an actual marriage of text and video in one seamless experience.
Sound confusing? Let's let Tubefilter.tv explain it: Before the app's release, readers of the 400-page book had to enter a printed code at the end of select chapters that would unlock the ‘cyber-bridge’ episodes, a process that even web video junkies found tedious. Though coining a new term with their “digi-novel,” the actual experience was still lacking any real innovation until now.
“The Level 26: Dark Origins App and iTunes Extras makes reading more entertaining than ever,” said Zuiker about the app release. “We’re delivering new levels of engagement way beyond mere white pages.

It's been about two months since the release of CSI-creator Anthony Zuiker's cross-platform crime thriller, Level 26: Dark Origins, the first true integration of a novel with a companion web series. Now available on the iTunes store, the iPhone app store, and in print is Level 26: Dark Origins, a new multimedia project written by CSI creator Anthony E. Zuiker and crime fiction writer Duane Swierczynski (who has written a number of novels, but is best-known to me as the guy currently kicking ass at writing The Immortal Iron Fist).
Dark Origins, which is the first in a trilogy, uses new cross-platform approaches to storytelling, wherein every 20 pages of prose are followed by videos and visual features that help to tell the story with “well-known Hollywood actors, crime scene documents, and special interactive features.” It tells the story of a dangerous serial killer who knows how to protect himself from any forensics investigation, and who is so terrifying, he’s been kept a secret from the public.
Further bonus material is available at www.level26.com, where fans can create their own storylines,...
