Just feel like the hosts are trying too hard to be funny. Just talk to the bakers. Ask them what they love about baking. About their flavors. About their techniques. What's challenging about what they're doing. What works, what doesn't. I'm way more interested in that.

Great except for the canned bits

I love cooking shows, and this one is no exception. The grannies are terrific! The contestants are fun to watch and interesting. Andy and Maya are best when they are spontaneous - especially Andy. I took points off for their canned comedy routines, which were not funny, and I think brought the whole vibe down. But otherwise the show is enjoyable to watch, with teams worth rooting for.
Almost a 10

I love baking shows and have watched hundreds of hours worth of them. This is one of my favorites already! The teams were all friendly and nice and funny. Maya and Andy are very funny and know just when to put a joke in. The only reason I didn't give it a ten is because it's not a musical; I could do without the musical numbers here and there and the theme song at the beginning is too long.
Perfection!!!

This is a show that I hope is here a long time! This will become a part of a new Christmas tradition to watch this during the holiday season! This could be a Christmas staple like "Christmas Vacation". Thoroughly enjoyed Maya & Andy. Feel in love with the grandmothers! PERFECT CASTING FOR THE 1st season. Standing Ovation for the production team and the Set. I appreciated how short the ads were during commercial breaks and enjoyed the humor with the musicals. Concept and theme had continuity. Great product for the next generation. Applause to Amy and her staff! 10 out of 10 for remaining authentic and creative!
Nowhere as good as Making It

The contestants and challenges are fun. The grannies are simply delightful and a blast. However, most of the advertising implied Amy Poehler would be on the show for more than 6 seconds. But she is not. To be honest, the "comedic bits" with Maya and Andy after commercials are unwatchable...simply atrocious. I began fast forwarding through them for my own sanity. I'd enjoy it more if the grannies hosted instead. They have personality and great opinions and never feel like they're there to waste time. Maya and Andy seem ok when they interact with contestants, being more natural. The scripted bits must go!
Funny, sweet and love the grandmas

Why didn't the "best" team win???

I absolutely adore the Great British Baking Show, so I was very excited to find this little holiday gem on Peacock. Andy and Maya were very fun with their cute riffs. Also, all the grannies were kind but fair - and super sweet. As with other bake shows, more experienced & talented bakers rose to the top episode after episode - winning prize brooches for their winning bakes. In total 8 brooches were awarded. By the season finale, Niyati and Abhi - alone - had won 4 brooches, WAY more than any other team. So I was super surprised when, despite getting top marks by the judges for their last bake during the season finale - they somehow lost the competition with no reasonable explanation as to why. Personally, I loved the winning team - as people - but as contestants - I am very confused as to why Niyati and Abhi didn't get to take home the prize. 😢
The show is an absolute blast

I'm already sad it's over. I get so sick of the manufactured drama of most cooking and baking shows. Even my favorite (The Great British Baking Show) has more drama than I'd like. This show is just completely drama-free and wholesome. It's also hilarious, with the help of Andy and Maya, who have great chemistry. The whole concept of grannies being the judge is just brilliant and hysterical.
Just a lovely show all around. Hope they do it every year.

Not for me ... which got me thinking: who or what was the target audience?

Let me preface by saying that I am super creative in my field, but for some reason, that has never translated from the corporate office and what I do, into baking. As such, I practically salivate over baking shows where the creativity these bakers put on display is not only measured in TASTE but in aesthetics. Mix in the hurdles they face in forms of "challenges', while at the same time having to balance camaraderie, or at least a show of camaraderieship ... and what is there NOT to love?
In short, in my estimation, baking shows, especially the Halloween War and Championship ones, make for EXCELLENT television. As such, I thought that I would love Baking it. I didn't.
The playfulness between the hosts seemed so forced. It was just off-putting. Oh, and the grannies! Don't get me started on them! It is not ageism when I tell you that I just found them so cringey. (Sorry grannies 😓).
The baked goods from the home bakers looked wonderful, but in truth, I am rating this on only 1-1/2 episodes. Perhaps the series improved as it progressed, but I could not get through any more than almost two. In as far as ratings go, I'd be willing to bet the farm that every Baking It granny's grand-kid has left a rating of 10.

Loose the cheesy hosts, and my score would go up!

Unfortunately the hosts for this show are really bringing it down. The contestants are fun. All the holidays are included via what the pairs choose, so there's a little non offensive something for everyone. The grannies rock!! In fact they make the show.
Wonderful!

Funny, entertaining and perfect for family tv night. Thank you for bringing wholesomeness back on tv. You will smile, laugh, be amazed at the creativity and look forward to seeing who wins the grand prize. Please do another season!
Love the cheesy hosts!

The ONLY reason I'm watching this is because of Andy and Maya. There's 1000 cooking/baking shows and 10,000 holiday cooking/baking shows so this one stands out because of the hosts. Then the bakers are awesome and judges hilarious.
Give this show an Emmy now!

Samberg and Rudolph delivery an effortless comedic Tour de France from the improv, singing sketches, to the back-and-forth banter. Their chemistry is unmatched.
All of the contestants are wonderful and have the most heartfelt stories to go along with their amazing baking skills.
The GRANNIES (judges) are so perfectly cast. They bring a ton of humor, realness, and the comfort of any granny you would normally meet on a cold Christmas day in a cabin. Their expertise on baking is the icing on the cake.

A cup of hot cocoa, a warm ginger cookie, and a blanket

Baking It is not the Great British Baking Show/Bakeoff; however, it comes closest of the American-made competitive shows that I've seen. It has some of my favorite aspects of GBBS: excellent food; charming contestants with heartwarming backstories; two very personable and talented hosts; judges who are fair, give specific, helpful criticism, yet who clearly care about the contestants, not just the food. The inclusion of the highly-qualified grannies as judges adds the right amount of spice. My favorite aspect, and what I've seen only in the GBBS and Baking It is the camaraderie between the contestants, and willingness to lend a hand if needed.
Were the 10s written by the show's producers?

This show tries too hard to be the British Baking Show. The only redeeming value are the granny judges. To me it appears to be a reality show with phony contestants and with hosts making it all about themselves rather than the contestants.
:)

I watch a LOT of baking contest shows & this is definitely now at the top of my list along with 'Nailed It!'
The theme song; catchy & makes me laugh, the opening scene in the first episode was good too. The grandma's? Hilarious & so fun to watch!
I wish the 2 of them were allowed to have a bit more of a loose vibe with their 'lines' since it is a competition show & they deserve to have fun too, but either way, Maya & Andy are f*king hilarious together. The cozy, fun vibe we needed.

More fun than expected

Not sure what folks were expecting, but this serves up Maya and Andy (in a Poehler production, no less) in all their awkward goofiness, ready to embrace their role. If you're not fans, maybe move along lol, but this is right on brand with their humor and style. Other reviewers might be missing the intentionality of such. Also the Grannies are fab: leaning into their legit grandma roles of blankets on rockers, and rummaging through purses (and the brooches!), but with no doubt they are actually accomplished and fully qualified in their fields to judge.
But after the first few episodes when the theme could've run thin, I think what actually kept me watching was the camaraderie between the contestants. Love to see it set up this way! The show might feel just a little bit cheesy until it gets its footing (the extra songs are abandoned), but when you see the participants actually supporting each other, baking for each other, with no drama or attempt to eliminate, I think it made a place for itself. It's actually quite unique and cool to watch. I was a little on the fence but I kept it playing and now I'm invested in the group of friends. Lol. Perfect holiday vibe when it's December, but too early to put Christmas movies on repeat yet. Fun!

I absolutely love Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph and the chemistry between them. Sure, there are some cheesy moments, but, overall, these hosts create so many funny and heartwarming moments. This is a great pick-me-up show that ultimately serves its purpose of being light and engaging. The best parts of the show are when the hosts interact with the contestants and are able to freely riff and let their personalities shine through, demonstrating both their humor and compassion for the contestants. Additionally, the combination of the grannies and hosts never ceases to lift my spirits. I hope there are many more seasons to come!

I don't usually watch cooking shows but 'Baking It' is more than just a "cooking show"...it's comedy, it's music, it's cooking, it's family, it's older and younger all wrapped into this amazing show...the sweet and sassy Grannies with the beautiful and hilarious Maya Thee Rapper, don't even get me started on Hot af Andy and his cute singing chops, the delicious and very creative challenges episode after episode...This show really has everything and then some more +2x3...I love this show so much...I'm hooked! Currently on the season 1 binge and can't wait to start season 2...did I mention this show's got Hot af Andy and beautiful and hilarious Maya Thee Rapper?!?! 🔥🔥🔥💯
Like a variety show!

I watched all of Season 1 and the current episodes of Season 2 of Baking It.
What a joyful, charming, and entertaining show! Baking it combines real contestants with talented and amazing hosts! Add the judges- the "Grannies"- to that mix and you get a show that makes you feel good!
The Grannies are the judges-4 lovely retired Ladies who have history with cooking and baking. They are so charming and honest in their critiques. They are cute, sitting in their rocking chairs with blankets on their laps!
Baking It is a genuinely wonderful show! You will learn cooking and baking techniques, as well as laughing a lot! Give the show a try with episode 1. I think you'll be presently surprised!
