Good French disaster film
searchanddestroy-16 November 2023
But disaster film on a very small scale, with a few characters, and without removing any quality in terms of directing, cast and acting. It is taut, tense, grabbing for the audiences. Since a couple of years now, French films seem to be more open to such kind of topics - LA NUEE, ACIDE. It speaks of a very serious matter occuring in France in spring and summer, forest fires, gigantic fires.... And this story is told in a realistic way; I mean of the production design for which great care was brought. Excellent André Dussolier in an old timer character that brings some spice to this tale. And the most peculiar aspect of this film is that it doesn't speak of firemen; for once the fires are shown from the common folks point of view. Some scenes reminded me a bit LES COMBATTANTS, back in 2014 with Adèle Haenel.
