Contrary to my own personal beliefs, Lunopolis is not about werewolves. I'm unclear about where the idea of werewolves got implanted into my brain in the first place but for the sake of brevity we'll just say the moon on the cover was very misleading. Instead of werewolves, Lunopolis is about a government and life related conspiracy involving "moon people" and how they control our every move. It's also another film of the found footage/faux documentary variety and unfortunately it's about 40 minutes too long.
During a late night radio conspiracy show, a frantic caller claims human beings from the future are living on the moon, controlling our every action. The call is cut short...but when a mysterious box arrives at the station days later, documentary filmmakers Matt and Sonny pursue the story,...

[Editor's note: If anyone says 2010 was a sh!% year for movies, please refer them to this post.]
Instead of the usual "best" or "worst" films of the year lists, I thought a good way to take a look at the highs and lows of the 2010 film year would be to compile almost every single review we published in 2010 and let readers meander through the wasteland as it were.
I'm really amazed at the range of films we managed to cover from around the globe this year. Quiet Earth has certainly come a long way over the years and it's really due to the talents and passion of our team of writers who literally travel a world of fests to bring news and reviews of new films.
I hope you're all taking notes. Many of these films were from fests and will probably be hitting VOD and Blu-ray sometime in the new year, so this is a good chance to get a start on your must-watch lists.

Ever wonder why we haven’t gone back to the moon since the 70s? Maybe there are structures on the moon that the government doesn’t want us to know about. Maybe they were put there by intelligent beings from another dimension. Or maybe the beings out there are humans who have travelled to our time from the future and are guiding our existence to make sure we don’t mess things up too badly.
Matthew Avant’s Lunopolis takes all of these conspiracy theories, along with many more, and rolls them into this “documentary.” It all starts with a phone call to a late night talk show not unlike Coast to Coast Am (even the fake-show’s website is reminiscent of CtC’s). A man claims that there are human beings...

1 year ago I attended the best festival I have ever been to as a filmmaker. All the movies were free. The location was beautiful. The people were amazing. And apparently I inspired them to create an Independent Spirit Award just to give to me.
Well the Orlando Film Festival is back and it kicks off Wednesday November 3rd at the Plaza Cinema Café in Downtown Orlando. While I won.t be screening anything at the festival, I will still be on hand checking out some films and promoting my own. I will also be handing out the Independent Spirit Award, which has been named after me this year.
The festival runs from Wednesday November 3rd through Sunday November 7th. All the film screenings are free but you must get a ticket for each at the booth in front of the theater. The Plaza Cinema Café is located at 155 South Orange...

First, the raw numbers: this is director and writer Gareth Edwards’ first feature, the movie cost a purported $15,000, internationally speaking the film has grossed over 1.5 million dollars, this is the one film you need to see this fall.
One of the spectacular aspects of a movie that is labeled sci-fi even though we only really glimpse the science of the fiction at the very beginning and then near the end which, really, is the crowning achievement of this little film that could, is that this movie exists at all. Actor Scoot McNairy, last seen in the very sweet and gentile film In Search of a Midnight Kiss, and his co-star Whitney Able are essentially starring in a film where...
