After making three award-winning short films The Morning Ritual, Gareeb Nawaz ki Taxi and Café Regular, Cairo; (watch the film here)the talented filmmaker Ritesh Batra makes his anticipated feature debut with Dabba (The Lunchbox) that will screen at Cannes Critics’ Week. Critics’ Week is a parallel section of the Cannes film festival where seven first or second feature films compete from all over the world.
Batra’s Dabba features Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, both known as the international faces of Indian cinema, and is produced by Sikhya Entertainment (India) and Dar Motion Pictures (India) and co-produced by National Film Development Corporation (India), Asap Films (France) and Rohfilm (Germany) making it a truly international project.

As Venice International Film Festival begins on Wednesday, DearCinema profiles for you the six screenwriters who will participate in the Nfdc Screenwriter’s Lab during the festival.
Screenwriter’s Lab, a 2-part workshop is conducted by the National Film Development Corporation (Nfdc) for the purpose of writing and selling original Indian screenplays in the international market. The workshop at Venice will be conducted by Marten Rabarts, Artistic Director, Binger Filmlab.

Tell us more about your story?
It is a love story between an old man and a young woman who meet by chance and build a fantasy life together. Gradually, this fantasy threatens to overwhelm their reality.
