When Edmond Talbot prepares his report for his godfather, he heads it HMS Pandora 1812. The Royal Navy had no HMS Pandora in 1812. The previous incarnation had sunk in 1811 and the next incarnation wasn't launched until 1813. The most famous HMS Pandora was dispatched to arrest the mutineers of HMS Bounty. After having found some and imprisoning them in a cage on the quarterdeck called 'Pandora's Box,' it struck part of Australia's Great Barrier Reef and sunk.
