While detective Sam Gillespie is otherwise engaged, a prop gun at St Vincent's Convent, where an episode is shot for MI 5 spy series Operation Q.T., has been replaced by a real, loaded one. the bullet was aimed at lead actor Hugo Steele, but as scripted he jumped out of the way. Boniface and useless Livingstone find the bullet in wood paneling and realized it probably was aimed at director Ray Crawford or producer Dick Lansky, but everyone known to have a grudge against either seems to have an alibi, except the cast and crew. Mother superior's objections against filming are overruled by canonness Basil, who backs up super-fan Peter, who even gets an extra part. Gillespie takes over after Lansky is fatally electrocuted, working out while motives are discovered that the killer is mirroring script killings, the finale being a bomb scene.
