Tomris Incer who plays Savas' mother is a shining star in this show
timesthechanrm13 May 2020
The production of this show made it difficult to watch. The entire series looks as if filmed with a handheld camera. The initial storyline is also a little troublesome, as it does not lay a solid foundation for the type of love story relationship you would expect in a drama. Setting these problems aside, the actors in this series make up for the poor filming and editing as well as the initial bond missing between the main characters (Savas and Yasemin). The leads (Murat and Nurgul) are well matched and Murat Yildirim does a stellar job as the tenderhearted Savas Baldar. Tomris Incer who plays Savas' mother is a shining star in this show. Murat Yildirim and Tomris Incer's acting anchors the series and make it worth watching until the end.

Wrong title

The. Show is called love and punishment but the only person who was born punish was Cicek and she differently was not getting any love. The love story they try to make us believe between Savas and Yasmin was not believable if the writers had take their time and write them properly than maybe yes but them been this great love for each other makes no sense whatsoever. The way he treated Cicek was bad he can go out sleep with Yasmin but poor lonely Cecik most stay in her room and stare out the window he thought because he married her and let her go to school that he save her somehow and she should thankful . I felt so bad for poor Cicek especially when he move Yasmin and his son into the house without considering Cicel feedings. The poor woman had to be driven around because they would not let her go out by herself so she had zero freedom. I had to skip some episodes and fastforward a lot scenes.

I started watching this series and it got very long and boring and simply stopped watching it. I don't understand why these series just keep going on and on. Just seemed like a low budget series dorry.

As good as many other Turkish series
spanishsteps16 July 2018
My first Turkish series was The End. Then, I watched Ezel and fell in love with it. The series had everything, romance, betrayal, vengeance, great script, and scenery was fantastic! After that, there were more... too much to name! All of them great. What a difference with US series where some only shot in a studio.

INFIDELITY
rakiyaharman9 September 2023
To hell with stupid traditions and customs. Traditions here is all about drugs! I love watching Murat's series but, I totally hate the role he played here. No empathy, total disregard for marriage. So its okay for a man to cheat on his wife, have a child out of wedlock while his wife sits at home feeling hopeless miserable and unloved. What was wrong with her having her own car and a bit of freedom. I also detest Yasemi's jealousy of cikcek. Cicek is the only victim in this drama. This is a pure double standard of how marriage should be in this modern world we live in. This shows portrays infidelity. Shows like this should never be encouraged in this modern society we live in today. Like other reviewers wrote, this love story to me is not believable and the only person being punished here is Cicek. They both know that what they're doing is wrong and being caught on camera by paparazzi worried them so much that they had to stop the story from being published. Cicek's dad is a bully who should be thrown off the bridge or even drugged with the poison he sells. Everything about the show is morally wrong. This drama should have been titled "infidelity " Yasemi's mum should stop her meddling and look for something useful to do. What sort of a mother encourages her daughter to hide her son from his father for a year! Is this also called traditions? Yes it's an arranged marriage however I have never seen any married man flaunt his mistress in front of his wife and even proposes to her without divorcing his wife. Guys come on let's be realistic here!

Great series

I watched Season 1 on Netflix with English subtitles. Am eager to see when Season 2 is on Netflix. The actors are very convincing. The plots are complicated so I can't guess how things will get resolved which makes for continual suspense. I like international series because the scenes and locations are set up with a lot of care and detail, variety, and photographic beauty. I also like the scripts in international series such as this one because sometimes they are exceptionally poignant, heartfelt and wise. The scripts and story lines are always well written and well developed, and I believe the English subtitles are excellent.

It's a low budget production but boy, who cares?! The story is compelling, though it draws on a bit long. The wait is worth it!

Nice story
tulip9515 April 2022
Great tradition vs modern story! Murat yildirim and Tomris Incer are amazing!! Awesome acting. Feride cetin good as well... but the leading actress I felt was terrible. She was a poor match for Murat and in my opinion just could not hold the leading role:( was the weak point for sure. Also was slow and dragging towards the end and camera was too shaky. But still overall good show.

Beautiful love of the leads
austenpride22 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I see a review on here that seems to have missed the entire plot of the show. A man and woman meet at a bar after she is betrayed by her fiance. She loses her virginity to him and becomes pregnant. He can't forget her but didn't know her name and has no way of finding her. After a few months his brother and father die in an accident and he becomes leader of his tribe. To save the life of his sister-in-law he agrees to a legal marriage but promises to never touch her and tells her they will find a way out of the marriage. He has absolutely no obligation to her and she has agreed to this from the start. It isn't his fault that he's a great guy and she begins to have feelings for him. He is not cheating on her, but loves the mother of his child. Yes Cicek was put in a terrible situation, but he saved her from death at the hands of his father.

Best Romantic Series! Ten TEN Stars!
lisajanalynn7 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I decided to write this due to the misinformation being spread regarding this old series.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED it!

I loved it so much that I re-watched the entire show 2 times in a row. Yup, I was obsessed.

Why? Because the script is engrossing, the focus was on the main couple's romance and not the side characters boring lives (so common in other shows), they're passionate and lustful with each other, and even though there are no sex scenes, they're kissing constantly, and you can tell that they're having great sex! YES, shocking in a series, right? I mean, most series will have 2 kiss scenes at the end of the series, right? Not this show!

And until the last 7 episodes, the show didnt drag at all!

I also loved that they got together in the middle of the series, so there are a lot of happy - awww moments - for you to enjoy. I smiled so much watching this show!

If you love, love stories, then you HAVE to watch this! The series is on YT with English subtitles, but I suggest watching it on Keiibg. Weebly web site instead (English title is called Love and Punishment) , because YT videos are missing scenes, and subtitles are terrible and not synched to the images.

Cons: I did a lot of skipping the last few-7 ep, and it did end abruptly with some loose ends. I felt like the show got canceled so they ended it suddenly.

  • Its NOT a low budget series like another viewer said, but its an old series, so the video quality is low, keep that in mind.

SPOILERS:
  • It does have a happy ending.

  • There is NO CHEATING between the 2 main characters (Yasmin + Savag). Saying there's infidelity in this series and ranting about it is just ridiculous. Dont pay attention to that review!

The Hero is FORCED to marry his brother's wife "IN NAME ONLY" in the beginning of the show to prevent a blood feud between the 2 powerful clans, AND to save his brother's wife's life when his brother died. It was their old tradition, and if he had not married her, her father would've blown her brains out like a used cattle.

His brothers wife is also forced to do this, but she and the male lead agreed to marry in name only with the understanding that they will divorce eventually once he figures out how to without causing more blood shed.

During the series, they used separate rooms, and have never even kissed. He acts like a caring brother to her, and is never attracted to her in any way, but the wife does fall in love with him eventually. But for him, Yasmin (the female lead) was his everything. He never cheats or even looks at another woman during the long series.

PLOT: Yasmin (female lead) catches her boyfriend cheating on her with her friend a week before their wedding. Heartbroken, she runs away and meets the Male lead in a bar and has a drunken one night stand with him thinking he was a simple bartender. They dont even share their names but she was a virgin, and he's the son of a powerful clan leader. The male lead falls in love with her at fight sight and cant forget her, but she feels nothing but regeret, and to top it all off, she gets pregnant from this encounter!

While this is going on, his father and brother dies in a car accident and he becomes the clan leader of 10k people, and ends up marrying his sister in law to prevent a blood feud. He finds Yasmin months later and.... drama happens...

Enjoy the show! :)
