- Kids are playing basketball at a park, and one of them chases the ball off of the court into the nearby brush. She sees honey pooling out of a garden shed, opens the door, and finds a man entombed in a beehive, surrounded by plants. He's still alive, and bees emerge from his mouth when he tries to cry for help.
Later, the police are securing the area when Renee arrives. She takes command, and tells them to take the man to Mary's clinic. Renee goes into the shed, she cuts the victim's phone, then tells the officer that was in charge to tell the commissioner that they have a situation.
That night, Renee meets with Ryan and Alice, and tells them what happened. She figures the killer weaponized the plants, and Alice and Renee both think Poison Ivy's new host is responsible. Renee tells Ryan about the dead plant they found that infected someone, and Alice refuses to say how she got the dead plant. The police detective says that the phone was passcode-protected, but figures he had contact with the killer.
When Renee says that she sent the body to Mary, Alice reacts and Renee asks her if there's a problem. Alice says that there isn't, and excuses herself to go to the clinic.
Ryan takes the phone to the Batcave to use the Batcomputer to decode it, and finds Sophie there. Sophie says that she's monitoring the city for Black Glove mercenaries, and is waiting for Virgil who she spotted to appear again. Ryan says that Jada wasn't responsible for what happened to Jordan, and tells Sophie that Jada isn't the monster she thinks that she is. Sophie isn't convinced and Ryan says that Jada promised her that she didn't think anyone was going to get hurt. She says that she isn't stopping Jada because it's complicated, and she'll tell Sophie the whole story when she can. Sophie asks Ryan if Jada has anything over her. Ryan says that Jada doesn't have anything on her, and asks Sophie to trust her. Sophie storms off, angry.
Mary examines the man, and Alice asks what kind of monster would entomb a man in a beehive. Mary tells her to leave, and Alice says that she already knows who the killer is: Mary. When Mary say that Alice is having delusions again, Alice points out that Mary has let potted plants grow in the clinic, Mary is drinking lot of water, and has a poison ivy rash on her arm. Mary insists that she's not capable of hurting anyone. The victim, Chris Hayner, wakes up and yells at Mary that she's the one who entombed him.
At the Batcave, Mary meets with Ryan and Luke, as Alice looks on. Mary finally figures that she's Poison Ivy. She explains that she was in a fugue state earlier that day, torturing Hayner. Alice steps in and says what happened with Hayner. Ryan and Luke don't believe it, and the Batcomputer breaks the code on the phone. It confirms that Hayner's last three calls were to Mary.
Ryan figures that Alice knew, just as Renee calls Ryan. Ryan mutes the phone and says that Renee doesn't need to know about Mary. Mary handcuffs herself to a control panel, and says that until they figure out how the infection works, she's a threat to everyone.
Sophie goes to Renee's basement office and tells Renee that she's doing the detective a favor by watching over Alice for her. Renee isn't thrilled with the ex-Crow, and Sophie says that she needs all the data Renee has collected on Fries. She admits that she and Ryan don't see eye to eye on the case. Sophie then shows Renee her photo of Virgil, and Renee tells Sophie to forget about Black Glove because anyone who runs up against them end up dead.
At the Batcave, the team discovers that Mary has a photo on a dating site, Twitch, and Hayner probably met her there. The photo of Mary has green eyes, and Mary suggests that Hayner was a date-rape guy and she found out about it. Luke checks the key words on Mary's DMs, and found out that Hayner thought Mary was "sweet". They figure that's why the infected Mary drowned Hayner in honey, and Luke tracks Mary's phone's GEO data to where she bought plant equipment, then went to a vacant lot.
Batwoman and Alice drive to the lot, and Batwoman asks Mary why she didn't say anything about Mary. Alice points out that Batwoman didn't work it out when Mary is her roommate. They find an empty fertilizer bag on the ground, and Virgil buried up to his neck but still alive.
After Batwoman takes Virgil to a sewer and handcuffs him to a pipe, she goes to the Batcave. Luke tells Mary that she tracked down the PO Box Virgil was using through the company that sold him the cryogenic medical supplies he used on the freeze victims. Mary used her title to bypass privacy laws. Ryan figures that they have enough problems without telling Sophie about Virgil, the man who froze Jordan. Luke points out that the original Poison Ivy was an eco-terrorist, but neither of the new victims had anything to do with the environments. He notes how Mary did something ironic to both victims, and Mary figures that the plant pheromones are triggering on her sense of justice.
Alice is nervous since she killed Mary's mother. She says that they should figure out what triggers Mary's transformations. They spot Renee coming into the office on the monitors, and Alice tells Mary that Renee wants Mary... dead or alive.
Ryan goes to confront Renee, who says that she needs to talk to Virgil. When Ryan says that Virgil is unconscious, Renee figures that Ryan is trying to hold her off. Ryan tells Renee to trust her process. IN the Batcave, Alice, Luke, and Mary are watching on the monitors. When Mary wonders what Alice meant earlier, Alice tells her that Renee and the original Poison Ivy, Pamela, fell in love and then Pamela got transformed by a scientist's experiments. Renee eventually lured Poison Ivy into Batman's trip.
Renee figures the new Poison Ivy had a connection to the victims, and that Ryan is hiding things from her.
Alice graphically describes how Batman buried Poison Ivy without sunlight or water. When Luke objects to her tormenting Mary, Alice says that she wants Mary to not end up like the other people the trophies have come in contact with.
Renee tells Ryan that seeing Pamela transformed broke her, and it wouldn't be fair to her, the city or the Pamela she knew if she didn't do everything she could to stop the new Poison Ivy. She walks out, and Ryan goes to the Batcave.
Mary and the others try to figure out what triggers her transformation. She starts to feel dizzy, and Luke goes to get some water. Ryan comes in, and Alice lets slip that Sophie is with Virgil thanks to her telling Sophie where she was so she could question Virgil. When Mary wonders why Sophie can't know where Virgil is, Ryan avoids answering and leaves to find Sophie.
Sophie confronts the handcuffed Virgil in the sewer, produces a lit blowtorch, and makes it clear she's going to torture Virgil with it if he doesn't confess his connection to Jada. Virgil says that Martha Elliot, Tommy's mother, hired him decades ago. She got together with other parents with "bad seeds "kid, and they discussed treatments and meds. The parents formed the Black Glove Society to clean up after their problem children.
After Sophie uses the blowtorch on Virgil's cheek, she demands to know what Jada wants. Batwoman arrives and tells Sophie to stop, and says that she will tell Sophie the full story when it's safe. Sophie wonders what Batwoman is protecting her from, but Batwoman says nothing further. Virgil chokes and dies, and after checking on him, Sophie tells Batwoman that she gets to keep her secrets a little longer. With that, she walks off.
Luke reviews Pamela's history, trying to figure out where Batman put her. Meanwhile, Alice tells Mary that Mary is used to playing second fiddle to whatever other drama is going on in Ryan's life. Luke overhears and tells Alice to go, and Alice points out that Batwoman left Mary to deal with Sophie. Luke insists that Ryan knows what she's doing, and Alice tells them that Ryan cares about keeping Virgil's secrets from Sophie.
Mary goes into a fugue, while Luke tells Alice that Ryan wouldn't betray them. Alice says that Ryan would take Mary to Renee, and Mary knocks Luke out from behind with a keyboard. The Poison Ivy infection has taken Mary over and basks in the sunlight. Alice greets her, and Poison Ivy figures Alice realized that sunlight was the infection's trigger. As Alice opens the handcuffs, Poison Ivy asks her why she's helping her. Alice tells Poison Ivy to be careful so she can collect her favor in the future.
Poison Ivy calls Renee and says that she has a tip about a Poison Ivy sighting, and Poison Ivy is at the city's Botanical Gardens.
Later, Renee goes to the Gardens, gun drawn. Poison Ivy steps out, and Renee isn't aware at first that Mary has been infected. She soon does, and Poison Ivy says that she called in the tip.
Batwoman arrives at the Batcaver and finds Luke recovering consciousness. He tells her what happened, and that sunlight is Poison Ivy's trigger.
Poison Ivy tells Renee that she knows that Pamela doesn't want Renee to find her. She accuses Renee of betraying Pamela, and Renee says that Pamela was out of controls. Poison Ivy says that Pamela thinks about how Renee betrayed her, and attacks Renee with vines.
Batwoman tracks Mary's phone to the Gardens. Luke suits up and prepares to go with Batwoman. He figures that the AI of his father will understand that he's suiting up to protect Mary, and Batwing and Batwoman head out in the Batmobile.
When the heroes enter the Gardens, they find yellow roses on the floor. Yellow roses symbolize friendship, and Batwoman figures Poison Ivy wanted to draw them out. Vines reach out and entangle the two heroes. Batwoman breaks free, as does Batwing. Lucius says nothing, and Poison Ivy comes up behind Batwing. She says that she found herself, and she doesn't need help. Batwing tries to get through to her, and Poison Ivy says that it is Mary, but without the part that does what the others want.
More vines grab Batwing and lift him into the air, then try to pull him apart, suit and all. Poison Ivy tells Batwing that she took out the failsafe and the Lucius AI, and plans to use it herself. She tells Luke that he doesn't need a doctor or a team doctor.
Batwoman drops down and apologies to Mary for being a lousy friend. Poison Ivy says that Batwoman gives more of herself to a woman that gave her away, and that it isn't friendship. Police airplane fly overhead, and Batwoman tells Poison Ivy that they have to go. Poison Ivy says that it's time that Batwoman heard her voice for once, wraps up Batwoman up in vines, and walks away.
Renee comes in and cuts Batwoman free with an axe. Batwing arrives and helps Batwoman up, and Renee tells them that Mary is now the most dangerous person in Gotham and they just set her loose on Gotham.
Later at the Batcave, Mary tells Luke that she thought she could reconnect with her family and became oblivious to Mary. Luke says that Mary's anger is on her, and an apology won't fix things. Ryan says that is her fault, and Luke confirms that Alice has disappeared as well. When Luke wonders what they do if they find Poison Ivy, Ryan says that they find a cure for the infection. Luke wonders how they do that without their team scientist, and Ryan says that she'll call in a favor.
Later at the Hang Out, Renee joins Sophie at the bar. They both admit that they've had a bad day, and drink together. They end up in one of the bar's hallways, kissing.
Later Ryan goes back to her office and calls Jada, and said that she needs Jada's help.
Alice steals a car and meets Poison Ivy. Poison Ivy tells Alice to get in and drives off.
