The Message from The Death
claudio_carvalho22 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Dean and Sam travel to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, that is Bobby's hometown, to investigate a murder that a witness tells that had been committed by a man that died five years ago.

Sooner the Winchester brothers discover that the dead are resurrecting and returning to their families. Further, Bobby's beloved wife Karen is one of the zombies and Bobby asks the brothers to leave the town. Five days later, the undead turn to evil zombies starved for human flesh and Bobby receives a message from The Death.

"Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" is an episode where the third Horseman of Apocalypse shows his evilness, bringing back to life the beloved relatives and friends from a small town and then he makes them grieve their losses again. Bobby has a strange attitude for a man used to fight against evil creatures, despite his love for his wife. My vote is nine.

Zombies

Warning: Spoilers
Good emotional episode with a mystery and one of the better action scenes. Obviously this a show and i don't mean to drag the obvious point that Bobby having a permanent residence makes zero sense or that the actual plot of this episode didn't make much sense but that sure sticks out here. Still enjoyable.

Not bad

Warning: Spoilers
Supernaturals Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid is a bit of a mix of the old movie Creep show and Zombi at the beginning. The storyline is about dead people come back to life and are nice at the beginning and then turn into not so nice undead people. The plot sounds simple, but become more complex with the story's subplot when Bobby's wife comes back to life. Bobby has an attachment with his wife, and the Winchesters have a conflict with Bobby about her. The story's climax is the Winchesters, Bobby, and the viewer find out that the only reason the love ones were brought back to life is a punishment for Bobby helping the Winchesters. I found the episode interesting, well acted, and directed. Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid is not as good as other episodes like Bad Day at Red Rock, but keeps the viewer entertained. I would give Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid a seven out of Ten.

Emotional Zombie Story
Coolmade20008 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love a creative zombie story that isn't the usual zombies many people are use to tuning in, but I just love the emotional plot between Bobby and his wife.

I'm really glad the episode was written the way it was. Bobby wasn't written foolishly to be completely blind & fooled by the supernatural aspect of his "zombie" wife by still being ready to take action if his wife attacks. Furthermore, I am super glad the show did not take the route of Bobby's wife turning into a villainous monster who would then attack Bobby & the Winchester brothers, but have her pass away again loving Bobby as she always has.

This is a very well-handled episode.

Let's get it right

Warning: Spoilers
I really like this episode. I like the emotional attachments, the conflict, the story line. That being said I'm like 98% sure that none of the writers looked up sioux falls. In 2010 the population of Sioux Falls was just over 150,000. It is not a podunk town, and in February their are blizzards and not lightning storms. Been living here for a while so I'm laughing at the inconsistencies. Also being that sioux falls has such a huge population there is not one "town drunk". I can assure you there are many.

Like I said over all I enjoyed the episode but the writers made it seem like it was a town of 50 people with one diner and one cemetery. Not true. Huge city.

"Another Horseman, it must be Thursday"

Warning: Spoilers
Oh I missed Bobby. Why isn't there enough Bobby on this season? I like the guy. Not only is Bobby a walking encyclopedia of the supernatural (I mean before he became crippled, but you know what I mean) but also he is the boys' surrogate father and their only safe harbor. Bobby has been there for the boys since forever and he didn't hesitate to sacrifice his life for Dean's but the man is also more than just a great hunter, he has a warm loving heart and a sad background story. Lucifer through Death is trying to cut off the brothers from every one left in their lives, So they bring Bobby's wife back with a warning. The episode isn't the best of the season, but not that bad. Finally I like Kim Rhodes and Carrie Fleming is their roles.

Left 4 Dead

One good episode in a long time! Not making fun of the series anymore...

Yeah, there is romance, there's love, there's a lot of shooting, but there's one thing: a lot of scenes like those from the game left 4 dead, it seems that Ben Edlund is a fan of the game...

Little of that good old "Dean-ish" humour with lines like: "Great, another horseman. Must be Thursday." got me to rate this episode a 7.

I hope they'll end this season by summer 'cuz I'm tired of waiting, seeing 3 more episodes and then another break...

Not the best supernatural episode, but it's worth watching it :)

I don't understand the plot of this episode on a basic level
CubsandCulture23 March 2020
I have never been able to piece together what Death was doing going after Bobby by raising zombies. If it was about getting Bobby out of the way why not just kill him? This question makes the episode feel in retrospect a waste of time. It is only on the strength of Jim Beaver's performance that this episode is worth watching. It is a handful of episodes that focus on Bobby and on that level it is great. But it doesn't fit in with the season and feels vestigial to the season and the show on the whole.
