Before Watergate, when people still actually believed what government officials had to say, before the 24 hour news cycle and CNN, there were shows like "First Tuesday" that were short-lived attempts to do what "60 Minutes" has been doing for fifty years. Unfortunately, First Tuesday didn't have Mike Wallace, who had a mission to forge a quality news show that educated and entertained, motivated by the untimely death of one of his sons, promising that in his memory he would dedicate himself to bringing quality information to the American people.
I remember this from when I was eleven years old. I was old enough to be interested in current events, not quite old enough to know what it was all about. I'd say that from my memories it was adequate for what it was trying to do but not a real stand-out. And the real gag?
