The Twitterverse was ablaze with every color of the rainbow Friday night as New York state became the sixth and most populous in the U.S. to allow gay marriage.
With the bill, which passed 33 to 29 in the State Senate in Albany, the Empire State joins Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Iowa and Washington D.C. in recognizing gay marriage in the United States.
The timing was fortuitous as New Yorkers observe Pride Week, a celebration of the diversity of the Lgbt community.
Lady Gaga, whose Lgbt advocacy has manifest well beyond her songwriting at speeches, rallies and appearances from San Francisco Pride in 2009 to the National Equality March in 2010, and the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards,...

You may know Louis Johnson and Jordan Meredith best for their appearance on MTV's My Life as Liz, but the folk-pop duo that makes up Augustine has been making music together for a while now. They met in St. Augustine, Florida (get it?) a few years ago and quickly bonded over their shared passion. Both Louis and Jordan have been performing since they were young and now Augustine is busy touring the country and recording new music.

Luminaries from all corners of the indie-rock world descended on Austin, Texas, on Wednesday night (March 16) not only to kick off the annual South by Southwest festival, but also to celebrate the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards. And though Wiz Khalifa and Two Door Cinema Club walked away with the biggest prizes of the evening, the night -- and perhaps the remainder of the year -- belonged to Odd Future.
Foo Fighters got the festivities started on a loud note with a rugged run through their new single "Rope." While the multiplatinum Foos aren't technically indie, they certainly practice a lo-fi aesthetic (their entire new album, Wasting Light, was recorded on analog tape), and with their new three-guitar attack,...

Now that Wednesday night's (March 2) episode of "American Idol" (which featured the 12 remaining women in the competition) is in the books, each one of the two dozen contestants has gotten one last song to sing to try to earn a spot as a finalist. There has been a lot of speculation about what, precisely, MTV’s My Life as Liz is. Scripted reality? An episode of Liz has more narrative structure than, say, an episode of The City, but it’s also less grounded in reality than Teen Mom. Is it some kind of Laguna Beach-meets-My So-Called Life hybrid? The real people! The unrequited love! The angst! My God, the red hair! MTV maintains the show is “real.” This season, like last season, is about her “real” life with her “real” friends and her “real” school (the Pratt Insitute). According to the network,...

MTV's adorable redhead, Liz Lee, is back for Season 2 of "My Life as Liz" premiering on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 11 p.m. Et.
Things have changed since we last saw Liz not even by a bit, but a lot. She's no longer the senior girl with the nerd herd circling her. In Season 2, Liz says goodbye to Burleson, Texas and hello to New York City.
Our "Star Wars-loving" heroine has moved more than 1,500 miles away from the conservative small town to attend art school. And as the city likes to do, it's beating the poor girl up.
Some things don't change, though. This season promises more angst, more of the robot dance and more crush-worthy boys.
Liz isn't looking back on her once-cool life with doe-eyed nostalgia either. The awkward star tells Zap2it exclusively why she doesn't mind leaving that life behind.

Liz Lee, the skinny, red-headed, Star Wars-loving star of MTV's My Life as Liz, is adorable, and I love her. Really. But she's giving me a huge headache. Well, not her so much as the show. I'm trying to write an article about the return of the show -- season 2 begins Tuesday at 11pm -- but I'm having the damndest time describing exactly what the show is, even having watched the entire first season and the first ep of the second; and I'm afraid if I think about it too much longer, my head will explode.
So here's my best go of it: My Life as Liz is a sort-of reality show/quasi-scripted sitcom/kinda sorta like The Hills but much, much better and taking itself way less seriously/high school-ish docudrama (at least I think it's those things -- no one's really clarified), which in season 1 followed our title character (character?...

While you're still up in arms over Skins, there's been other programming on MTV. But hey, let's face it. The first season of My Life as Liz was wack. Completely uninspiring, gimmicky, teen baloney. Or bologna, however you choose to insult. But MTV is hoping to spice things up with a big change coming to the channel's weird docu-drama-comedy-reality... actually, what genre is this show? I still haven't figured it out.

On Monday night (August 30), the new cast of "Dancing With the Stars" was revealed, and like previous seasons, it's an incredible cross-section of actors, musicians, athletes and whatever category Bristol Palin falls into.
