Casey Johnson and David Windsor have signed a two-year overall deal with ABC Studios. This marks the first overall pact for the duo, who have been partners since the launch of their careers as staff writers on the ABC/20th TV comedy series Two Guys And A Girl during the 2000-2001 season. The deal with ABC Studios follows Johnson and Windsor’s stint on another ABC/20th half-hour series, cult comedy Don’t Trust The B—- In Apt. 23, on which they served as co-executive producers this season. (Johnson separately worked as a consultant on NBC’s Guys With Kids). The pact also brings Johnson and Windsor back to ABC Studios where they developed and wrote four comedy scripts for ABC with studio-based Mark Gordon Co — one of which, It Takes A Village, went to pilot two years ago. Under the overall deal, which starts June 1 and has an option for a third year,...

BBC Comedies Vie For Commissions At Salford Sitcom Showcase The BBC is taking a shot at remaking It Takes A Village, the 2010 ABC pilot by Casey Johnson & David Windsor that starred Leah Remini. Whether the UK version actually goes forward, however, will be in the hands of a live studio audience next month. For the second year in a row, the BBC is testing a crop of potential shows in front of a live audience at the Salford Sitcom Showcase, a three-day event during which six comedy pilots are performed onstage to a packed house as execs take notes. The first edition spawned commissions for family sitcoms Citizen Khan, which BBC One just picked up for a second season, and Hebburn which debuted on BBC Two this month. On deck at this year’s showcase with It Takes A Village are the battling-neighbors show 1987, from Sherlock producers Beryl and Sue Vertue; Just Us,...

Plus Jane Lynch reminds us about free speech, Bianca gets recast, and Michael Bublé has a potty mouth.
Jane Lynch spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the Newsweek/Ramin Setoodeh uproar, and she has a valid point: Ramin has a right to his opinion, no matter how much we disagree with it, or how shoddy his logic or writing, and Newsweek has a right to print it. The rest of us also have the right to speak up in opposition, but not in an “Off with his head!” approach. It’s not how you change hearts and minds.
Before I leave the subject I would like to point you to Autostraddle.com’s Let Us Now Praise Effeminate Men, which borrows some of the best lines from queer actors, characters, and activists to make the point. Favorites like Adam Lambert, Alan Cumming, Kurt Hummel, Emmett Honeycutt, Wilson Cruz and others feature prominently.

Plus, Logo preps A-List New York, Die Hard V: Early Bird Special is happening, how Cheyenne's pilot looks, plus Kevin McHale dishes on his boy band days.
Aaron’s storyline on Emmerdale has helped the soap garner nine nominations for the British Soap Awards, including Best Single Episode, Best Storyline, and Best Dramatic Performance for Danny Miller.
Michael Musto is saying that Logo’s new reality show is going to be called A-List New York, and drop the “kept boy” theme for just being fabulous. Reichen Lehmkuhl still tries to convince me that seeing him, photographer Mike Ruiz and somebody named Jack Hazzan flit around the city and Pines acting special isn’t a trainwreck, but it just makes me want to disconnect the cable. Maybe if they film it all nude, I could watch with the sound off.
They’ve begun writing Die Hard V. Rumor has it the...

Cheyenne Jackson, Christopher Sieber
With shows such as Brothers & Sisters, Modern Family and the soon to be dearly missed Ugly Betty already part of its line-up, ABC has been the most gay-friendly network on television for quite some time. And that record of gay-inclusiveness is only set to increase if the network picks up the new comedy pilot It Takes a Village.
Written by Casey Johnson and David Windsor (Greek), Itav stars Leah Remini (The King of Queens) and Christopher Sieber (It's All Relative) as two exes trying to raise their 15-year-old son while also navigating their post-divorce romantic relationships. And in the case of Sieber's character Howard, that relationship is with his new boyfriend Scott played by Cheyenne Jackson.
ABC has recently found a great deal of success with their return to the sitcom format including The Middle, Cougar Town, and, of course, Modern Family. So what might It Takes A Village look like?...
