Warning: Spoilers
I only give this 5 stars for those DIYers who want ideas to renovate or build their bathrooms. These renovations are usually widespread, involving entire crews, several professional disciplines, and in the end create and actualize a noteworthy transformation. The main crux of this show is simple. A licensed contractor goes to Lowe's and "randomly" seeks out couples who want a free bathroom facelift. There's one catch though; since the renovation is free the couple agrees to give this contractor design and implementation control. Seems harmless enough right? But here is what irks me. Most of the people they interview in the store are just there for small items. The contractor usually picks a white couple, good looking, young->early middle-aged. The homes are usually nice to begin with, of the upper-middle class variety. None of the bathrooms I have seen in the show were that bad to begin with, I have certainly seen a LOT worse. The couples make enough money to renovate themselves or pay someone to do it, but seeing how they never cite moneys as the reason they don't actuate the renovations, I can only assume its because they were too lazy. So these people get a gorgeous free bathroom, when they really didn't need one ( or could afford it on their own), when someone else worse-off could have really used the help. With the economy the way it is, IMO, this show is in bad taste.
