I never wondered what would happen if you threw The Toxic Avenger into a blender with Clerks and hit puree but now I know. This is one big goofy, gory, good time. Jacob Cobb died while rewinding VHS tapes at The Video Barn. Twenty years later he returns to exact vengeance on those who hope to reopen the cursed video store. Writer/director Dustin Mattson delivers a genuine homage to all those sleazy B horror flicks from the 80's. This was obviously a labor of love by all involved and they have succeeded in giving us one of the most unique and entertaining films in years. I am already anticipating the sequel.

Cute and Grungy

The premise is absoluely adorable and entertaining, if ultimately done up in a not as fulfilling as initially hoped manner. There's clear passion and fun, with a cooky and memorable monster design - If only we had some more attacks and less dudes chit-chatting in an abandoned room. I'm definitely on board for a sequel, though. Maybe the video store will be open by then, and maybe some VCR related horror will happen. Lots of potential for more stories!
Just Good Indie Horror

I really enjoyed this film. You can tell it was made with a lot of love, and that everyone involved had a great time.
The dialogue is funny and the gore/EFX are practical and effective.
Tape Head/ Jacob has in Horror icon potential.
I look forward to seeing what is next from this team.

This no-budget indie surprised me with its charms. The characters are fun, the performances better than expected, and the production looks/sounds pretty professional. It cleverly uses some animated transitions and comic-book inspired framing and storytelling techniques. Well written, well directed and all-around well done.
Dope indie movie :)
