Straight forward and enjoyable...

I had not heard about the 2021 Chinese action drama movie "Longmen Town Inn" prior to sitting down to watch it. However, I will say that the movie's cover and its synopsis both had some appeal to it. Plus, it being a movie that I hadn't already seen, that too weighed for me sitting down to watch it.

Writer Leo Hwi put together an enjoyable script and storyline here. The narrative was good and straight forward. It is a somewhat simplistic plot actually, but it still proved to be entertaining. It should be noted, however, that "Longmen Town Inn" somehow felt rather similar in concept and idea to the 1992 Hong Kong movie "Dragon Inn".

I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in "Longmen Town Inn", but they had a good cast ensemble to bring the characters to life on the screen, and they put on good performances.

The martial arts and fight scenes throughout the course of the movie were good and nicely choreographed. Director Yin Qing-Ze had put just enough action and fight scenes into the movie to keep it well-paced and entertaining, whereas some other similar movies cram as much fighting into the narrative as humanly possible.

While "Longmen Town Inn" is not going to become a classic, it still does prove entertaining and enjoyable, especially if you like era-set Chinese movies that combine martial arts and drama. I was definitely entertained throughout the course of the 88 minutes that the movie ran for.

My rating of director Yin Qing-Ze's 2021 movie "Longmen Town Inn" lands on a six out of ten stars.

A very predictable pointless movie trying to make a point

Warning: Spoilers
The name of the movie sounds like a remake of an old wuxia movie, but it has nothing to do with it. There is not a single likable character. Even the protagonist was a traitor and got everyone killed and he is the only survivor. The part where he pretended to save the sad mopey woman, wrote her a love letter, and then betrayed her is the character of a psychopath. The story is basic and have no depth, like typical Chinese movies. Always about misunderstanding that turns into a revenge mission for life and no one uses logic or reason as if they are so stupid they refuse to accept truth and rather die or kill people based on rumors.
