Even aliens can have mid-life crises.
Tweekums7 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Lurrr, leader of Omicron Persei VIII, and his wife Ndnd are having marital difficulties; he keeps promising to invade somewhere but just sits watching television. Meanwhile on Earth Fry has written a comic and, after his friends give it poor reviews, he heads to Comic-Con to get professional opinions. Keen to get in his wife's good books Lurrr launches an invasion of Earth and arrives during the Comic-Con cosplay competition and is mistaken for an entrant…. Ndnd is unimpressed. Thrown out of his home he turns up at the Planet Express offices and undergoes a classic midlife crisis; buying a flash car, dating a young woman who he thinks is of his own species but turns out to be a human fan-girl in disguise. At this point he realises he wants Ndnd back so a 'War of the Worlds' style fake broadcast is made showing his conquest of Earth… unfortunately Ndnd comes to Earth so he must really occupy the planet.

This is a decent enough episode with quite a few funny moments as well as a few jokes that don't work as well. Fry's comic was so bad that it was moderately funny and Lurrr's date with 'Grrrl' was particularly funny; especially after her true identity is revealed. The events at Comic Con, where the team that make Futurama appear as their own heads talk about making 'Futurella' about somebody from the being frozen till the year 4000 was rather disappointing even if it was meant to be slightly self-mocking. It was also disappointing that something that was very important in an earlier episodes, namely that broadcasts take 1000 years to get from Earth to Omicron Persei VIII, is completely ignored here. Overall this episode was fairly middling buy Futurama standards; entertaining enough but far from being a classic episode.
