Robots vs. Wrestlers (#5.22)

Warning: Spoilers
Ted is in to a bit of classy entertainment and in this episode ends up at a party of such style, abandoning his gang who went to see Robots vs. Wrestlers.

The episode is about friends drifting apart. Not just ted doesn't come but also robin. But it manages to do it with a good feeling as at the end Robin still shows up and Ted feels a bit too douchy and is also impressed by his doppelganger to come back to his friends. Even though they did drift apart later, it is not 100% as they keep on at least meeting up for this event every year.

Pretty nice. I loved Ted's Mexican wrestler doppelganger. Now who will Barney be! We sure will see him soon enough as this is when Lily and Marshall plan to start having kids.

I am all with Barney on this episode. Hate to see friends separate.

I...love...this...episode.

It is episodes like this that made me LOVE this show. Don't take it too seriously or analyze it. Just enjoy the shenanigans.

Yes...the show overall is about Ted and the mother. But it's really just about friends being friends and all the crazy athey do. This is just Ted to the nth degree of his Tedness...and its great. Juxtaposed with the polar opposite of robots and wrestlers.

A heart warming episode

I loved how Ted found some people who share mutual interests like poetry and arts. I loved how they gathered at the end with Robin coming back to the gang. The show indicates what a true friendship is and makes it so heartwarming. Thank you.

Another So So Episode

This episode features Ted Mosby at his pretentious worst it is a side of him I really enjoy seeing, and almost this full episode is devoted to it.

Plot In A Paragraph: Barney worried that the gang is drifting apart, when he gets five tickets to "Robots Versus Wrestlers" (something he considers will be a new tradition for the gang to attend every year) and Robin (who is still upset from the events of the previous episode) refuses to go, and Ted decides to to stay at a snobbish party.

Neil Patrick Harris and Jason Segel try hard, but sadly it is not enough to raise the quality of this substandard episode that follows hot on the heels from the last substandard episode.

With only two episodes left of season five, "How I Met Your Mother" needs to seriously get back to the excellent episodes like "girls versus suits" and "the playbook" from earlier in the season.

Warning: Spoilers
This might be the worst episode of How I Met Your Mother so far. It revolves around an overly pretentious caricature of Ted. Barney, Marshall and Lily are accessory parts, Robin is hardly featured at all.

There are a few funny parts. We meet the fourth doppelganger, Mexican Wrestler Ted, which is awesome. I also enjoyed the Willem Defoe joke, especially its reprise at the end of the episode.

But what on earth have they done to Ted? Yes, he had his pretentious college phase that is always amusing in flashbacks, but reciting Italian poetry at MacLaren's pub in front of his friends? Seriously? There's nothing wrong with liking Italian poetry. But if your best friends for like 10 years constantly respond with fart noises, at some point you should take the hint.

The whole theme of friends drifting apart is interesting and compelling, but it could have been dealt better with. The final message, Robots vs. Wrestlers being the one event that brings the gang together year after year, is uplifting, but sadly it is contradicted every time Robots vs. Wrestlers is mentioned in later episodes.
