Dramatic and Emotional Episode
derekweatherman2 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This is quite possibly my favorite episode of Grey's Anatomy. I was especially moved by Chandra Wilson's performance as Dr. Miranda Bailey. It is part one of a two part finale for season 6. Throughout this episode, you will begin to feel like you know the characters on a more personal level and even identify with them. It might seem crazy for me to say this, but I even identified with the shooter. He was grieving the loss of his wife and he was desperate for a way to cope. It certainly does not justify killing all of those people, but it reminds us that people react to death in many different ways.

I think this episode also raises awareness of the need for preparedness with regards to active shooter situations in a hospital setting. It shows how chaotic a hospital can be on a typical day, but especially when the facility is put on lockdown.

Best Episode

This is still my favorite episode. The acting is amazing. The characters are so relatable. I cry everytime I watch it. I love the comedic relief of Meridith and Christina wandering around with no idea what's going on.

Had to write a review for this!

Warning: Spoilers
This is undoubtedly one of the single best episodes of any television drama series, ever.

The episode has you gripped from beginning to end (ok, so most of Grey's Anatomy episodes do!) but this one has you on tenterhooks waiting to see whom will be shot next.

The episode is brilliant because it gets rid of some of the newer, duller characters but actually makes you care about them - especially Dr. Charles Percy, because it involves characters you do care about, in this case Dr. Miranda Bailey.

Absolutely stunning episode, superb acting all around. I can't see them ever topping this episode, but I look forward to seeing if they do.

... the monologue 😱
jeakle1519 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"I love it here...loved it here." The foreshadowing of this at the beginning is genius. It is repeated again at the end when Dereck is shot and Merideth is screaming for him. Genius!

As close to perfect as a Grey's episode has got

People like to be original by reviewing this episode as rubbish, here to say it's my favourite series finale, it is gripping, and 100% realism isn't what you watch TV for :)

I Am Very Edgy™
burninatable5 February 2024
I heard this episode was intense, but I am like a boss so it didn't phase me at all. Soaps are for girly girls and lame-o's but I generally give this show a pass because it also has lots of cutting and guts. I am Super Hardcore so I enjoy guts. I watch, like, all the horrors, so yah. I'm very cool. I'm rlly mad though cuz this episode wanted me to care about more things than the guts, like people and junk, ew. I could watch 90210 if that was what I wanted. I mostly just tune that stuff out and wait for the surgery scenes but this episode just would not let me. It was WAY too fixated on characters reactions and feeling their feelings to focus on enough of the action, and sorry that just does not hold my Very Important attention. How dare these lazy creators not cater to me personally, you know? That's just poor quality writing. More than that, how could an entire genre that does not exactly match my specific interests even be allowed to exist? What's even the point in that? So stupid.

Don't even start on how inaccurate the firearm stuff was. Like I said, I'm cool, too cool for soaps really, so that was what I noticed first. Maybe people who watch lots of soaps didn't notice, but I did because yeah. I mean, imagine being the kind of person who thinks that's not even the point of a show like this. Lol. Just so lame. Tragic.

Jk 10/10. Excellent all round.

what the...

Warning: Spoilers
I mean, I like this episode.. but there were stupid scenes that really make no sense at all. Why no one call 911? No one has a phone?? I think there is internet available on phones too at that time?.. No cops at the hospital?? the chief, Derek, going around saying there's a lock down? The shooter pointing at Derek's face and aim for the chest? A busy hospital and no body used the elevator until a lot of time after to finally find Alex? The shooter... that character didn't really was the kind of running around shooting people, but it is USA, you never know...

On the other hand, I liked Miranda's acting. Derek's acting too. At some point he looked like he was being really pointed by a gun. I like that we had some silly episodes, some dramatic ones and this thrilling one. But you know, too many shootings in USA you shouldn't have invented one that is not believable.

How bloody awful!
rwseidel16 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
As if the increasing soap in this melodrama was not already too much, a mass murderer bring more blood and gore into the hospital. Of course, since this hasn't happened before, no one, including hospital security, has a clue how to respond. Dr. Dreamy is the target, but anyone in a white coat will do when the shooter loses his way. The prolonged adolescence of the cast surfaces in the crisis, further proving that this hospital is the site of a mocumentary of the genre.

Worst episode yet
roger-debacker22 April 2017
This must be the most pathetic episodes of the series if not of TV series altogether. A person stumbles over a body lying in a pool of blood and "freezes". Other doctors/surgeons see the shooter roaming through corridors without at first being seen, being in danger themselves, but none of them has the idea of calling 911 to report where the shooter is. I hope this kind of characters live only in the fantasy of the writers. Then one police officer says "we will handle this", but through the entire episode you don't see a single police officer in the entire hospital. Great handling. Again, I hope this has no parallel in the real world.

I was waiting for that....?!!!
Optomist22 May 2020
I was told this 2part episode was amazing!!! I'm watching this post Game of thrones and walking dead, so maybe I've been spoilt with the shock death storyline. It was kind of comedy like, the whole episide. I really was not bothered who would live or who would die, (actually I wish more people died) so my lack of investment in the characters, now confirms that, no, this show is not for me. So it's goodbye from me, I'm not a melodrama kinda gal.

Not their best episode
ladee-468668 May 2023
I stopped watching Grey's in the early season (too soap opera like) and had not seen this episode. There are so many things wrong with this episode. A random person walking around asking for a doctor's office and simply being directed there is ridiculous! I wouldn't think that the higher ups would be so easily accessible to random people. The fact that no one on any of the other floors heard the gunshots when the first two doctors were shot is ridiculous. The hospital has an open atrium for goodness sake! It took way too long for the police to be notified so I'm guessing no one had their cell and didn't think to use the hospital phones. Lastly, a lot of the monologue was terrible.....and the list goes on. The writers clearly wanted an exaggerated episode.
