Just ridiculous

My childhood friend dragged me to the theatres to watch this movie and i went along with it even though my feelings were against it. I was aware of Vijay delivering a long list of rubbish with his last few movies and at the end of this movie i definitely felt like sitting through a torture session.

In short this flick is all about a guy living in a slum supposedly having super intelligience and super strength. As always the question that begs to be answered is why didn't he get a better job and help his villagers out (being his lifelong aim) if he was that good (he is a fisherman in the movie). The baddie is your everyday stereotypical villain dealing in drugs and smuggled goods. So what do u expect at the end of the movie. One guess and that sums up this pile of filth.

Vijay, do read the script before accepting movies coz this one was written by a retard and the producer was definitely languishing in some mental asylum when the script reached him. I see no other plausible solution as to how anyone agreed to spent money on this.

This flick is recommended to nobody and seeing that this was a major disaster at the box office i believe that this feeling is mutual.

confusing story about Indian superman Jesus, that goes on forever.

I will be the first to admit that I know nothing about Indian cinema, except for the Bollywood stereotype. I did not know what to expect going in to see this movie, nor how to judge it in the proper context. Perhaps that is the reason why Sura has me utterly confused.

 The movie starts out with some light hearted fishing village shenanigans, a bit of comedic romance, and a healthy portion of dancing. So far it all fits pretty well into the stereotype but then, without any transition, the movie cuts to some dark, really rather brutal gangster stuff involving a corrupt politician type villain. It's like an entirely different movie. After a few minutes, the movie sporadically jumps back to comedy relief character Umbrella engaging in some less than hilarious slapstick, then returns to the gangster stuff. 

The movie keeps jumping between these different scenes, interlaced with some unmotivated dancing for about an hour, at which point there is a switch in tone again. Suddenly the brutal villain is more of an action comedy pathetic bad guy, and main character Sura has turned into a black clad,cool looking hero a la Neo from The Matrix. The random comedy bits featuring Umbrella are still there, but main story is different. 

There is just such a disconnect between the different parts of the movie, the audience has little chance to understand what's going on. Besides that, the main character Sura seems to be a mix between Neo from the matrix, and Jesus. He is a cool looking, ass-kicking superhero, who also cares about his people, can predict the future and can do no wrong. It feels like he is the embodiment of actor Vijays narcissistic fantasy of himself.

What really gets me is not just the unbelievable main character or the confusing plot, but the length of the thing, at nearly two hours and forty minutes, it is about an hour longer than the subject matter deserves. By the time it ended (which took forever) I felt both frustrated and bored.

Vijay is definetly is the crowd puller of the kollywood industry..I am his huge fan after watching thulladha manamum thullum,kushi,priyamanavale,ghilli etc....One of the reasons for his present success is the film 'Sura'.His 50th film made him realise that he need to change and be selective in his scripts.The downfall of sura brought a huge change in him and you can see that in nanban,Thuppakki,kathi,mersal,bigil etc..... Coming to sura....the movie has the worst direction and screenplay.....The comedy scenes are a headache....Only the songs and Vijay's dance moves are a bit enjoyable....While on paper ...it looks like a good formulaic story...The presentation made it a worst watching experience....An actor like vijay was totally wasted in this movie....

I can't believe I sat through the whole running time. This is undoubtedly the worst attempt at a movie (no, I'm not going to call it a movie) I have seen. A movie entirely based on idolizing, worshiping and butt-kissing a self proclaimed super star who attempted, but failed, and failed miserably in trying to use this as a platform for his supposed entry into politics. It's not the anti-logic in the movie script that annoys me the most, it's not the comedy bit played by Vadivelu that made me weep in agony...it's the sheer arrogance in which the director has gone about in making this...this thing the way it is. A floor mop and a water bottle could have played Tamanna Bhatia's role better. Watch this movie, only if you like torture as a form of entertainment. No, actually, just don't watch this movie.

50 th movie makes it 50 times worse

If ever there was a movie which deserved 0 stars its this one.There were times when i had to check with my friends if they were seeing what i was because i simply could not believe the nonsense that was being played on screen.I am a die hard Vijay fan but this one is very difficult to defend.The movie was made to tell us how good a human being Vijay is and that if we vote for him he will turn Tamil nadu into a paradise. He interacts with the audience more than the characters in the movie telling us how good a role model he is and we should all be like him.The whole cast must be ashamed of themselves and should do penance for dishing out a disaster like this. Pluses:Vijay's dance Negatives:the rest of the movie. Please do not watch this even if you are paid to. You will end up depressed. Having said that Vijay has promised his fans he will henceforth work with reputed directors so there is no way he can make another movie as bad as this.The trailer of velayudham looks OK but all of us are waiting for Nanban which i think will be the movie which will make us forgive Vijay for making Sura.

Please give us an option of 0 stars. Its very useful particularly when such movies are been made and reviewed. One of the most horrible movies I have ever seen in my 20 years of life! I paid some 140 bucks for this thrash. I would have donated that money to an orphanage or at least bought myself a beer. Seriously a crap movie. Not many will believe that I am a Vijay fan. I was never ashamed of calling myself a Vijay fan but if Vijay continues to make such movies, then i guess a lot of fans will turn against him. I mean this is totally out of the world (of course in the negative sense).

The movie begins with our home made Michael Phelps swimming from the sea and reaching the shore and singing and dancing. Only he was happy for his survival in the movie. He helps his ignorant friends who are so stupid to mortgage their ration cards. Hero is a self proclaimed Mgr (sorry Mgr fans). Then villain is a completely bad guy. Smuggler + gangster + politician = villain (he is supposed to be better than any underworld don). Heroine, the copycat, is really beautiful and thinks the hero is the only handsome guy in the whole world.

As the story evolves (if there was a story), the hero wants to build homes for his area people. Villain wants their land. He tries killing the hero but our hero is very very strong. He survives hits on his head and even after they try to burn him, he comes out alive. He challenges the villain. And the movie is all about how he succeeds in the challenge.

Songs are completely out of place. The Telugu Billa rips are misplaced in this movie. Tammana looks beautiful but her acting skills makes her unbearable. Villain has done a great job in Magadheera but was utterly wasted in this movie. Direction was awful.

Positives from this movie is really hard to pick. But i would say Vijay dance needs some mention. It was like one black hair on the head of an 80 year old man.

I wont recommend this movie even to my sworn enemies. I have one piece of advice for Vijay. Look I am your fan. but please don't do thrash like this. People around you are gaining better fame and name and they have done just half the number of movies you have done. Mahesh Babu remakes are enough. At least try ripping Ramirez Khan or Shah Rukh Khan movies. They may suit you and will give you a break from stereotype movies!

Flop of the year 2010

Our flop Thalapathy proves it once again with his Sura.. Its evident from the title itself that the movie has nothing special and again the same idiotic punch dialogs , mind disgusting stunts packed with commercial Masala.. The movie has nothing awesome to describe or even worth mentioning it as a 'movie' first.. It seems very peculiar what the actor really has in his minds.. The same Vijay has once done some good and entertaining movies like Kadhalukku Mariyadhai,Sachein,Badri etc and have given hits.. Then what is the need for him to change his acting style and concentrate in this idiotic trend.. Its really time for Vijay to change his trend.. And the heroine Tamanna after doing some good and performance oriented roles in movies like Kalloori,Happy Days(Telugu),KIKK(Telugu),KK has made a backlog in her career by committing to this idiotic movie.. Gone are the times when Tamil cinema had great directors like Mani.. Gone are the times when Tamil cinema produced movies like Nayagan,Mahanadhi,Anbe Sivam etc.. Directors have to really change their way of movie making and understand clearly that Tamil audiences are no longer fools to watch the same Masala movies.. With upcoming promising directors like Gautham Menon,Sasikumar,Pandiraj,Vijay etc, lets hope that Tamil cinema will go to the next level..

such a waste of time

i already wasted my time watching this movie? should i waste my time writing a review for it?? no ways.. since i should write at least 10 lines, i am just giving a basic review. Vijay is capable of doing best films.. choosing this film was a terrible mistake.. this movie never works in any departments! 50 movie of vijay should have been a massive hit. unfortunately it didn't work. hopefully he chooses better films with better script after this!! i didn't have a choice to rate it below 10 or i would have give it 0.5/10. that 0.5 mark for vijay alone. i love many of his movies , but this movie is completely waste! i don't want to talk anything else about the movie.. not even worth watching it in TV.

I had gone to this movie first day SECOND SHOW.....full of crap and nothing impressive in the movie at all and its all like vijay movies with no logic whats so ever CRAP AND .so are the songs worse except "BHOMMAAIY" but it taken from tollywood Billa.The direction is poor acting is poor.only positive in the movie is Vijay dance.He is at his bes in dancing..and comedy failed to impress the crowd .

stunts are filled with unnecessary slow motion scenes and slow screenplay.Vijay never improve his acting until he knows the dedication to story line and acting.Better he need to go tuition to Sree Kamal sir for acting improvisation acting is poor.only positive in the movie is Vijay dance.He is at his bes in dancing..and comedy failed to impress the crowd .

SURA is clearly the worst movie of all.DIRECTOR has clearly taken tamil movies deep down to "uknowwhat"whole.

Its really sad to see people like him get to direct movies and people like me get to watch it to review it.

hero intro : looks like "YOU Don't MESS WITH JOHAN" heroine intro : wants to suicide bcoz dog goes missing "OMG" songs : FYI all songs are from telugu movies Stunt sequence: it takes more than words to say how poorly it is choreographed(tried imitating B13 like ayan but didn't work)

TO audience:These movies make us look like fools

'sura' as the title suggests,the movie doesn't look ferocious or enthralling either.this is one of the worst tamil movie and the biggest flop by vijay.the main letdown in the movie is the old fashioned nonsene bullshit awful storyline,out of the world comedy + dialogues ,poor intro and the worse...one of the biggest illogical climax scene i have ever seen so many things make sura an awful movie...like performances of tamannah is not handled well and the comedy track by vadevelu falls flat...similarly performance by other actors...the villain and the hero himself are not upto the mark...the only good thing in movie is the stylish dance moves by vijay! so to sum it up Don't WATCH THIS MOVIE...its just waste of time,waste of money,waste of everything!

Again an entertainer film by Ilaiyathalapathy Vijay! The film has been shot in the beach and fully focused on Fishermen's life. Sura (Vijay) is the leader of the group. He is a great well wisher of the fishermen. He tries to eradicate the difficulties faced by them. He wishes to build at least a very gud and safe house for each one of them. But there comes the villain to eradicate them all. How he faces him, whether he will succeed in the war between him n villain or not , whether his wish will come true or not...is the story. The twists, turns and the climax have been shown wisely. Intelligent work by the director S.P.Raajakumar. The editing, screenplay and the choreography are awesome. The heroine Tamannaah does not have much to act. She comes as the rich and gorgeous girl who falls in love with Hero Sura!The comedy scenes are not much hilarious, but Vaikai Puyal Vadivelu has given his best. The dance is superb. As usual brilliant and rocking performance by Vijay! Thanjavoor Jillakaari Rocks!!!...Thanks to Mr. Mani Sarma - Music Director.

Worst Film in tamil 2010

One of the worst films in Tamil Film industry! Its so bad with half baked story! NO actual sense. Its just aimed to improve the character of the hero Vijay among the masses with Actor Vijay must be ashamed to act in such a film...

ITs been the same story for the past 10 films for Vijay... and the film totally goes no where...any one can guess the film from the start to the end! Typical masala film!

The First day first show audience felt it bad...A big disappointment for Vijays fans and consecutive flop show..

The distributors suffer heavy loss because of releasing such a stupid film

This film may be Vijay's 50th film but it does not offer anything new at all.We have seen this crap again and again in all his previous films so Sura is kinda boring.

ACTING : poor performance by everyone in this movie,its high time Vijay chose his films carefully.

SONGS : worst.

COMEDY: bad,Vadivelu does not evoke any laughter not even with that stupid name of his.

the only positive thing about this damn movie is Vijay's dance.

OVERALL :if u wanna see hell then i recommend this crap

This movie can be used as an example in film schools to teach how much a movie can be spoiled because of idolizing the heroes. Songs, fist fights, comical scenes in a random (predictably) order. The movie seems to be a product of the same assembly line on movies which was starred by the same hero. If you have watched those you can spot the same scenes getting repeated here with a different villain and heroine. I forgot to mention about the expensive sports shoes or great costumes for the hero living in sub standard living conditions. The movie also places heroines in bad light, the heroine in this movie has nothing more than to act like a beautiful person with an IQ below 70. The stunts are also very cheaply made with off the shelf fireworks.

Please.. I beg you.. Give it a miss..

Though down with a heavy fever, out of curiosity, I booked a ticket first day for this movie. And I rode almost 4 miles in a bicycle to reach the theater. I will regret that decision for my lifetime. Actually, it is a shame to call it a movie. Worst casting, worst acting, worst direction, worst ever dialogues. Even the comedy scenes are intolerable. Yes. I understand this one is a masala movie. But you cant mix and eat a bag full of masala in a small bowl of rice. The movie tested my patience from the first scene itself. I mean, do the people who takes these gems, watch it before the release or not? I am pretty sure they don't. Please, I beg you. Give it a miss.. Dot..

I don't know why but when i was small I loved this film to the core like whenever this movie is telecasting in tv I will not give the remote to anybody and i will fight for the remote with my sister it's a good movie of my childhood after grown up only I know that this movie is flop.
