television masterpiece

Really. It is.

An homage to Twin Peaks, and the usual Psych references to other pop culture, especially television shows, this entire episode is brilliant. To fully understand its conceit, you probably had to have been a fan of the original David Lynch Twin Peaks series, at least year one. If you were, then this Pysch episode will be one laugh out loud moment after another.

I can't get over how awesome this show is. It stuns me that the writers and producers put this much thought into one standalone episode in the middle of the season. I want to write them personally and thank them.

Brilliant.

As a Twin Peaks fanatic and Psych addict, could not ask for a better homage! So fun to see all the original actors!

My favorite psych episode ever

Warning: Spoilers
Psych has never "peak"Ed more than this episode. It was beautiful and tasteful and never a dull moment despite it being a little bit longer than its other episodes. I loved all the tributes and it does justice to the original Twin Peaks.

Magnificent!

Warning: Spoilers
I have never watched this show before, I have never been inclined to watch this show before, but I saw a commercial for a Twin peaks reunion, so I programmed and watched this show for this one episode.

A delight to see these people again, as well as catch the little jokes. Those were especially hilarious.

All I can say is 20 years has aged Dana Ashbrook and Sheryl Lee. And the little inside jokes, too wonderful. From donuts to pie to cider (replacing coffee, I guess).

Also fun for Sherilyn Fenn to go from Audrey Horne to Maudetta something.

Aside from Wise, these were largely the young crowd. Now they are oldies.

I remember Robyn Lively's name on Twin Peaks, but can't place her, and have not a clue what Von Dohlen did on the show. Don't remember him at all.

Especially enjoyed the scene of the actual original Log Lady (now Woman with Wood here). I remember the magpie, don't recall what he did.

and of course, the final scene in the diner, with the dancing eyepatch in the red suit, the guy barking like a dog at the window, and yes, i even caught the noiseless window blinds news article mentioned at the very beginning.

Like the partner here (the black guy, and no, there were no non-whites in Twin Peaks), I too had sentiment about the body wrapped in plastic on the rocky shores of the lake on that cool, foggy morning. So long ago. So memorable.

I suppose one day someone will do this for Lost.

This makes me want to watch Twin Peaks

I tried really hard as a teenager to like Twin Peaks, but for some reason it just wasn't my thing. This episode is 100% my thing and everything I would have wanted the actual Twin Peaks to be. Now I'm off to find a cinnamon pie recipe.

Dual Peaks!! Twin Spires!! Eeeek!!!! Dammit!!!

"Dual Spires" is a delightful homage to the quirky and offbeat TV show "Twin Peaks." The episode perfectly captures the essence of the original series, from the small town setting to the eccentric characters and bizarre plot twists.

The Psych writers & cast do an excellent job of channeling the Twin Peaks characters, with James Roday and Dulé Hill bringing their usual humor and charm to their roles as Shawn and Gus, respectively. The guest stars, including Sherilyn Fenn, Dana Ashbrook, and Ray Wise, are spot-on in their portrayals of their Twin Peaks counterparts.

The episode's mystery is engaging and intriguing, with plenty of twists and turns to keep viewers guessing until the very end. And the humor is top-notch, with plenty of clever references to Twin Peaks and pop culture in general, right down to the eerie theme music similarities!

Overall, "Dual Spires" is a must-see for both Psych and Twin Peaks fans. It's a loving tribute to the original show that manages to stand on its own as a great episode of Psych. Highly recommended.

A very good tribute episode

Warning: Spoilers
I feel like this episode works perfectly for what it was meant to be, which was a tribute to TWin Peaks, a very popular show that came out a few decades ago. The episode starts in the same way Twin Peaks, with a young woman being found drowned, and the investigation to figure out who killed her. Later on in the episode, a second woman, the librarian, was also murdered, via hanging. The two cases clearly connect, and at the end of the episode Shawn even starts to clear things up with the pastor who he had a rough relationship with. I ended up really liking this episode for what it was, and I can easily see why it is considered one of the best episodes in the entire series.

Twin Peaks...sorry, I meant Dual Spires

Mind you I'm not a big Psych fan per say but as far as this episode goes they really knocked it out of the park. For starters they totally nailed the whole Twin Peaks thing. From the plot, to the creepy music, the obsession with donuts and pies, the weird, over the top dramatics (I remember how weirded out I was back in the day from all the insane crying they did in Twin Peaks) and I laughed my head off when they made fun of that in this episode. Bringing back all those old school Twin Peaks actors was just awesome. There was a nuance from that show in every scene. The downside? Well if you've never seen Twin Peaks none of this will make sense and you'll have missed all this cool stuff ;) Without prior knowledge of Twin Peaks this episode will probably come off as strange and disjointed. Outside of that it's still good, the usual result from any given Psych episode (as I said, not a huge fan of the show)

.....stop rating 10 because you liked Twin Peaks
evermanofgod20 February 2023
The appeal of Psych is the same as South Park: every episode is a parody and no one is safe. Well, except for Twin Peaks. There are very few jokes, the over the top serious moments were only mocked on a few occasions, the Psych characters are tamed to the feel of Twin Peaks, the action sequences are minimal compared to the average Psych episode, the Psychic bit is minimal, the writing is clunky, and what's up with that intro remix? It wasn't funny or fitting to the theme.

I get Twin Peaks is good and stealing from it's material means the episode is going to be alright at worst, but this was the least "psychy" of Psych episodes.
