Since the game is meant for children, the protagonist (Adam) cannot die, in contrast to most of Sierra games. Furthermore, if the player gets stuck, the other game characters offer hints.
In addition to the regular command icons included in the icon interface of many Sierra games (Walk, Look, Take/Use and Talk), as a part of the ecological nature of the game there is a special icon of recycling symbol, whose function is to clean garbage throughout the game.
Some of the Elurians are named after Greek mythology characters, in compliance with their occupation or behavior: Demeter, the gardener lobster and her daughter Persephone; Narcissus, the self-admiring blowfish; Cassandra, the prophet John Dory fish. Hippocrates the swordfish, the Elurian surgeon, is named after the famous Greek physician.
According to the game manual, Flesh-Eater's former name before he became evil was Icarus.
The game has two versions: the first was released on floppy diskettes, the second on CD-ROM with full speech.
