This finale was all gas and no breaks! Every foreshadowed twist is revealed fantastically in this season finale. It gains momentum quickly and the pacing never lets up until the climax. I was happy with how each character arc culminated, both the daughters and the mothers have a satisfying conclusion that felt earned. The twists and reveals genuinely shocked me, but they were very elegantly foreshadowed. The production quality was top notch; great set design in the school, thrilling shot composition during chase scenes, excellently mixed sound effects, and the dark red lighting added so much to the tension. Original Sin was heavily inspired by numerous horror films, both new and old. As a massive horror fan I found it hugely satisfying to see such love for the genre. Moreover, the series carved it's own niche in the genre as a coming of age murder mystery slasher hybrid. They continued to grapple with mature themes with respect for the victims and did not let the perpetrators go unpunished. The greatest strength of the show is that it did not pretend to be a pretentious metaphor for mental illness or generational trauma, it told it's story directly and the themes came naturally.
Unsurprisingly there are many haters who continued watching until the end just to complain how little it had in common with the original series. I have a message for them: Times change.
A fantastic season finale to a great show! I can't wait to see more because the ending teased a sequel.
