Classic one/off entry in the series
Julia Ann and Dyanna Lauren shine as the titular characters of THE LAND LADIES, second installment in the ingratiating PSYCHODRAMAS series from Girlfriends Films.
Each of the veteran leading ladies is impressive as a smoothly sinister sexual predator, conniving to induce their lovely female tenants to have sex with them when they fall behind in their rent payments. This is high-concept cinema, porn division, and the simple premise is quite effective.
First victim is Brea Bennett, a mere slip of a girl in Julia Ann's mighty clutches. After much beating around the bush, Julia Ann offers to keep the wolf from Brea's door if "For a while you'll be my girlfriend". JA's approach is quite cold- blooded, but typical of this genre, once Brea gives in to the MILF's demands, both parties greatly enjoy the result.
Lauren takes over in vignette #2, visiting Aimee Addison with bad news about imminent eviction. This segment has an interesting twist, which while it strains suspension of disbelief ultimately rewards the patient viewer vicariously. Dyanna proposes that both Aimee and another delinquent tenant Jessica Bangkok, put their heads (and other parts of the anatomy) together to solve the money crisis, and she will give both a reprieve in return. The resulting 3-way is a hot scene.
Julia's back to her old tricks with deadbeat Rayveness, and she follows Dyanna's lead by pairing Ray up with Brooke Lee Adams (who has a young Sherilyn Fenn aspect to her). The contrast here, both physically and older/younger, works quite well and Julia is more voyeur than participant here.
Feature climaxes in a brilliant sequence, which is fully discussed in a lengthy coda to the film. The 2 landladies compare notes, and then make love, but first Dyanna Lauren delivers a sincere speech of her commitment to Julia Ann, even giving her a ring (this is 5 years before Gay Marriage became the law of the land), and delivered with unusual pauses and meter worthy of a Chris Walken.
The pair's resulting sex scene is the real deal, and both explain later, after the fadeout, that they have long been friends, even to the extent that real-life Dyanna declares "I would die for her". You don't need to be a die-hard fan to appreciate the sexual power and intensity of this art fading into real-life segment.
