The first of the month is always a big day for streaming services, as that’s when the bulk of their new content for that month tends to hit, with the rest being dished out in small batches over the following weeks. If you’ve been on a Netflix binge-watching streak amid the novel coronavirus pandemic and are starting to feel worried about running out of things to stream, you’ll be glad to get a first look at the amazing line-up of TV shows and movies that the company is set to add to its library in June.
As if Netflix wasn’t already popular enough, they’ve stood to gain a lot of profit from the current outbreak of the Covid-19. With hundreds of millions of people around the globe self-isolating at home, it only makes sense that they’ve turned to streaming platforms to alleviate their boredom. Over the last couple of years, the likes of Amazon Prime, Hulu and HBO Now have upped the ante to seriously compete with Netflix, but if it’s variety you seek, then it’ll be quite a while before another service manages to dethrone the juggernaut.

Exclusive: Former Smash star Jack Davenport is set as a lead opposite Lucy Liu in CBS All Access’ Why Women Kill, a darkly comedic drama from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry, Imagine Television Studios and CBS TV Studios.
Created by Cherry, Why Women Kill details the lives of three women living in three different decades: a housewife in the ‘60s (Ginnifer Goodwin), a socialite in the ‘80s (Liu) and a lawyer in 2018 (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), each dealing with infidelity in their marriages. The series will examine how the roles of women have changed but how their reaction to betrayal has not.
Davenport will play Karl. Seen in 1982. Karl is handsome, well-bred and “endlessly amused by his wife,” Simone (Liu), whose extravagance he indulges. He knows he’s a supporting player in his wife’s life but happy to play his part. Karl is devastated and defeated when Simone uncovers a part...

"Tell me who it was!" Ace Entertainment and Ascendant Releasing have debuted an official trailer for the indie action film The Stolen, starring Alice Eve as a woman who goes off on her own dangerous adventure to find and save her kidnapped child. Set in the 1800s in New Zealand, Eve stars as the wife of a farmer who is murdered. She's then forced to join a convoy of ex-convicts, whores, hustlers and a native Maori warrior heading for the rough mining town of Gold Town, where she hopes to find her son and bring him home. The film's full cast includes Jack Davenport, Graham McTavish, Richard O'Brien, Stan Walker, Cohen Holloway, Glen Levy, Gillian MacGregor, and Stig Eldred. This doesn't look so bad, but it also just doesn't look good either. Alice Eve tries so hard but just isn't a great actress, and the rest looks forgettable. Here's the...

Star Trek Into Darkness alum Alice Eve has closed a deal to star in Replicas, according to Deadline.
Eve, who is primed to have a busy 2016 thanks to roles in The Stolen, Bees Make Honey and James Oakley’s mob drama The Brits Are Coming, will play Mona, wife to Keanu Reeves’ male lead Will Foster.
Unfortunately, story details remain thin on the ground at the time of writing. That being said, Replicas is shaping up to be an old-school sci-fi that blends some thematic elements of Reeves-fronted thriller John Wick. Foster is a “neuroscientist whose family is killed in a traffic accident and will stop at nothing to bring them back — pitting himself against a government-controlled laboratory, a police task force and the physical laws of science.”
At one point, Replicas was set to be helmed by Tanya Wexler (Hysteria), although Deadline now reveals that it is Jeffrey Nachmanoff...

Niall Johnson is a sterling British filmmaker you may not have heard of, but you will certainly be aware of his work. Starting off with television dramas like The Ghost of Greville Lodge, then moving onto small indie pictures like The Big Swap, Johnson made waves in Hollywood when he wrote the script for the Michael Keaton-starring supernatural chiller White Noise, which shattered Box Office records at the time of its release. But the writer-director is perhaps best known for his wonderful black comedy Keeping Mum, now a staple on Film4, which tells the tale of Maggie Smith’s housekeeper, who hides a dark past, helping change a divided family for the better, even if she does so through rather unorthodox means…
Johnson did anything but keep mum in this exclusive interview where he very candidly discusses his career so far, his very busy upcoming slate, and his thoughts on the film industry today.

A few weeks ago some of the men of Pajiba got into a discussion about actors who had some damn manly roles in film. At the end of it all it was quite an impressive list and it was hard to argue with any of the choices except I still maintain that Zac Effron isn't manly, Deistbrawler. For the hell of it (and because it makes my job easier) I suggested that whomever wanted to, should do a short write-up and find a clip on any of the actors and we'd put together a Seriously Random List/Comment Diversion with it. Please consider that certain actors were exempted by default because there really wasn't anything they did that wasn't ball-swellingly manly. The result was a little different then I expected but will most definitely put hair on your chest.
