The ladies actually perform the hula from Hawaii. The Tahitian dance "Tamuré" is often confused with the hula. As indicated in this show, the hula is hips swaying from side to side to the ukulele music, while the hands and arms tell a distinct story. The Tamuré is the dance which includes rapid-fire shaking of the buttocks in a dizzying figure eight movement, while the arms stay still. The was 1955. In the years that followed, Hawaii would repeatedly showcase the much sexier Tahitian Tamuré instead of their own hula, by inviting Tahitian dancers in Hawaii's restaurants and at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Honolulu. Ever since, American tourists have been confused as to which dance is which, since the Hawaiians do not introduce it as such and have tried to appropriate Tahiti's French Polynesian culture as their own. This has also been the case in American TV shows since the '70s. Hawaii 5-0, the reboot, made such mistake by showcasing a Tamuré vahiné dancer in their intro.
This episode's vaudeville Afterpiece is titled "Shoe Store Routine."
