Welcome back.
aarpcats26 January 2022
I volunteered at Rape Crisis for several years in the 1970s, and tend to fall into the "believe the woman camp." However, after reading her account and his account, I did believe her. What I didn't believe was that it was sexual harassment or rape. What I believed is that two young people didn't communicate very well, and Ansari paid the career price for all the other men who did sexually harass and rape.

Maybe one day our culture will get this right.

Anyway, I was happy to see Aziz back and funny, I have missed his comic voice and the intelligence in his act.

Short and sweet
fericirea28 January 2022
This is a low production, almost impromptu recording of Aziz doing 30 min at the Comedy Cellar in NYC. What makes it worth it is that this time Aziz gets personal, authentic, and genuinely thoughtful about the how the world has broken down since the days of flip phones and Nokia bricks, all the while staying light, clever, and often times hilarious. Definitely worth the watch.

Back to the roots...
DukeEman27 January 2022
An existentialism night with Aziz who has stepped back to observe and then deliver his verdict to us mere mortals, but all with laughter intact and food for thought.

Always love the serious side to a comedian, and Aziz did have some valid points of what is so screwed up with this world without talking down to you. The maturity of an artist is always frowned upon by followers who prefer the artist to remain the same, like a favorite beverage or food. Sometimes the artist needs to also mature with their work, and Aziz is heading in the right direction...

Felt like I was there

Absolutely loved the way the special was shot. It was so relaxing and easy to watch. Then the comedy itself: absolute gold! I laughed so much and appreciated all the wisdom Aziz had to share. It's great to see him smiling and still doing what he loves.

Intelligent Humor For Our Time
tkdlifemagazine3 February 2022
Aziz Ansari is a a funny young comedian that has done stand up and had a Netflix series about his life and relationships. He is funny. This special was recorded at the Comedy Cellar in NY on what appears to be an impromptu appearance. It is intimate and funny. He deals with COVID and modern issues. He is funny and thoughtful and has good crowd interaction. Nothing is sidesplittingly funny but he is fun to watch and NYC is a good place for it to take place.

Rough Draft
guillenrodri30 January 2022
I think it was good for what it is: a work in progress. I've been listening to the WTF podcast for about a year now and have always wondered what Marc meant when he said he was working on material at the different venues, like the comedy store. I imagine this is what he meant. The 30 minutes is rough around the edges, but that's what I expected, i appreciated that and genuinely laughed at a good portion of the set.

Painfully Short - I Mean That As A Compliment
genious-3541325 January 2022
Half an hour of Aziz is better than no Aziz so I'm overjoyed at this. It was great hearing his take on what life has been for what is now going on three years. I also like that his material is getting an even more poignant edge to it. He had a bitin his last special about family and how infrequently they are seen and it immediately made me rethink how often I should see my aging parents. As great as his comedy is, that moment has done more for me, and I hope many others who maybe never would have thought about it in the way he presented it. And there is a bit more in this special but I'm not going to give away anything to ruin hearing it from the man himself.

Resonated with me
fandomfatale28 January 2022
A short special, but great. Very intimate. A lot of serious points punctuated by jokes, a different vibe from a lot of stand-up. A lot of pandemic-related jokes, so I wouldn't blame anyone who wasn't interested in hearing more of that, but I thought it was very entertaining.

I just like this man
melodyso28 January 2022
It's pretty spot on and sweet. The part about Timothee bubble tea is so good! Some reference I don't get cause I'm not from America. Also the part about vaccination can be shortened. This man has the power of being genuine and moving even in a stand up setting. His old footage is sooooo cute. Should this show was longer tho.

Not bad, but poor continuity.
jscottphotographer27 January 2022
The standup wasn't terrible, but the continuity bothered me to the point of not being able to really get into it. Seeing 3 different people in the same seat stage left throughout different jokes. Very distracting.

Intelligent
shawnjones8231 January 2022
It was intelligently written to show us our true selves... All the negative comments are from people it hit too close to home with. The special was funny but also serious. Truth hurts when you can't come to terms with your own short comings.

Aziz is maturing like a fine wine
thirstyvisionary28 January 2022
I was worried this would've been horrific stand up but a couple of minutes in I remembered why Aziz is such a great comedian. Relaxed, relatable, and able to provide hilarious entertainment with meaningful messages.

Ignore all the stereotypes and anything you read from media outlets, he is a top top quality entertainer, actor and comedian.

New content. New businessman
jersey-6848126 January 2022
Aziz delivers thought provoking comedy with this one. Even though he jokes he isn't making big money like other celebrities, he found a way to get a Netflix special by just showing up to the cellar and texting the owner "I'm here". This pandemic gave us a lot of time to sit on our ass at home and think. Aziz been thinking. Aziz delivered with this one. Loved it.

Just so-so
Jeremy_Urquhart26 January 2022
Technically not awful standup, but it was way too short and it might be a personal thing, but I'm so tired of the pandemic that by extension, I'm just so tired of pandemic-related jokes, and there's a few here.

He makes a couple of good observations and a couple of tired, uninteresting ones. I found a few bits amusing, but not enough, and at only 30 minutes, even if it had been 100% funny, I still would have felt let down by that length.

Oh well.

Understated and enjoyable
finnsmyth-928411 February 2022
Loved the short run time. Humor was good and it felt genuine. It was a fun ride and I like that those people got a free Aziz show they didn't expect. Is everything he said something we've already seen before, yeah, but so is everything else. At least when he said it I felt like I was hearing it from a friend or genuine person. Maybe he's not a genuine person, I at least appreciate the skill to make me feel that. I also appreciate any reminder that there is a world we live in that we don't have to participate in. Like, the world has an MO that we don't have to follow. I like that.

Absolutely brillant and thought provoking
mumfanatic30 January 2022
Obviously you will see some reviews here, which are from the fans of some other comedian/ podcasters and football players Aziz bashed! That explains the low scores. The special was amazing and crisp. It could also be that it was edited that there seemed to be no wasted moments. Everything was to the point. It was very funny and thought provoking. Yeah he is in the vaccine camp. He asks for empathy for the workers revolting. The message was good and it was funny! Don't believe the Aaron Rodgers fans or the patriots mad about him relocating to London. It is good!

Thank you aziz for the content you chose to present in this short special. I found it to be refreshing and honest, which is something we don't get much of these days.

Oof.. Not good
kofila31 January 2022
You don't see a 30 minutes long special very often. But there is a good reason in this case. I was bored to death after 10 and then the "acting" began. And sooo much covid talk..?! Yeah, after two years of having this awesome thing around you every damn day and hating it so much you wanna go see some comedy where half of the set is about it. Oh boy..

Let Down
timj-6294712 February 2022
Sets up jokes but instead of hitting a punchline for laughs uses it instead to lecture. This special was a huge letdown because I have loved Aziz in the past. The Aziz that took risk instead of pandered.

Use to be like one of us
johnwwwatson27 January 2022
Use to be like one of us. Now it just feels like he pulled up in a limo to try some woke jokes then he's back to Jolly Old London. Cheerio Aziz, here's to you remembering what side of the tracks you got your jokes from. Not my bloody cup of tea mate.

What happened to Aziz? Did he start trying to write his own jokes?...
hacks-5663528 January 2022
I don't know exactly when it happened, but Aziz stopped being funny and became boring and obvious, stating facts and hoping to get people to laugh about it. I am gonna go out of a limb and say either he now writes his own stuff, or no longer does... or maybe he just became lazy and thinks that he is "cool" now or something.

Go back to the drawing board and redefine yourself as the nightclub fact stater... comedian is out of your reach at this point...

Just another crazy anti science comedian
tylermiranda_re28 January 2022
Sadly this guy went off the deep end. He used to be funny. This "comedy" bid was nothing more than regurgitated liberal talking points aimed at those against vax mandates. It's sad to see celebrities turn into nut jobs. Who knows maybe he was always a nut job, but he hid it well until this stand up job.

Forgettable.
Brad_G3528 January 2022
Let me start by saying I love Aziz. I became a fan with Parks and Rec and I enjoyed most of his specials.

This special though? There were a few funny ha-has but ultimately it wasn't that great.

He mentions that he lives in London now which might explain it. He just seemed to be out of touch with culture and the overall American Psyche. Pandemic jokes filled up most of the set... those jokes were the worst of the bunch. Aziz, every comic, tv personality, elder family member, and friend have made those same exact jokes for the past 2 years.

I'll say it's cool though for him to drop in. Had he announced that appearance in advance, the Cellar would've been packed. One of the podcasts I was listening to mentioned the other day that he was also in LA at the Comedy Store for a set. I hope he's running through some small clubs working out new material but if any new material spends that much time on the pandemic... any future special will likely flop too by the time it's released.

Where was the COMEDY
bphawks26 January 2022
He should have stopped after 3 specials. There were no jokes , no stories leading to FUNNY anecdotes . Just his opinions , I love to laugh and watching this I DIDN'T.

Lazy and boring
digsey_d29 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Opening a set in late 2021 with 10 minutes of covid-19 schtick? Come on. My brother-in-law could make those jokes - he's not a funny guy. This is lazy writing. Picking the low-hanging fruit. Taking advantage of 'fad-mentality'. On top of all that, Aziz's 'just be grateful that I came down to joke casually with you by surprise' vibe smells funny to me. There's much better comedy out there by far less-conceited comedians.
