- Stanley Lieber, Editor of Atlas Comics, must create a new superhero team less the company goes under. With bit of help from his wife, Joan, and inspiration from Artist Jack Kirby, he instead creates Marvel Comic's First Family while becoming the greatest character of all; Stan Lee.—Anonymous
- Stanley Lieber serves as a disheartened Editor for Atlas comics on the verge of quitting. This is until his boss, Martin Goodman barges into his office to proclaim that National (now known as DC) Comics has recently released their Justice League comic. Under instructions to create a new book that can compete, Stanley faces a tough decision; his work or his family? On top of that Martin informs Stan that Atlas is on the verge of collapse and that if he doesn't write a smash-hit comic book; it could be the end of their comic book division, putting untold amounts of people out of work. It's all on him.
Lacking inspiration and worried about how this might affect his home life, Stanley calls his wife Joan to discuss. Clearly upset but decides that families stick together, she assures him that his family believes in him. She and their daughter will love him no matter what may come; be it the ups or the downs. Families stick together through all the trials and tribulations they could come face-to-face with. Be it paying the bills on time or fighting a galactic super-being!
With newfound hope Stanley reaches out to Jack Kirby, a long-time friend and an Atlas Artist. Spit-balling with Jack, Stanley realizes that creating a new superhero team just isn't feasible or interesting. A superhero family though? That could work! The duo get to work quickly developing what would become Marvel comics First Family. In addition; Stanley creates one of the most beloved and recognizable characters of all time; Stan Lee. In the process of doing so, Stanley begins to understand the balance he must strike between work and home life.
