Either my mind is going (quite possible) or I'm onto something, but this is the second straight Wicked feature from several years ago I've rediscovered to be superior to mainstream rom-coms. The point is that "Fairy Tale" and "Neighbors" both have excellent scripts and performances plus the hot Stormy sex scenes Heigl & co. can't match.
Her director Michael Raven has a special trick up his sleeve this time with the genius casting of Kaylani Lei as a 12-inch garden fairy whose pesky antics wreak havoc on newly married couple when they move into their new home in the suburbs, sick of big city life in Boston. Format is reminiscent of Hollywood comedies with a haunted house (think "Topper") only here it's a beautiful, nude pixie of a fairy.
Even the inevitable joke about fairies punning on that word is amusing here, as Raven once again manages to create interesting characters to root for -an uncommon achievement in porn. Hubby Eric Masterson (paired with Stormy in both films) is a fashion photographer, while Stormy is convincing as a house frau devoted to her decorating and other routine chores that at times recall a '40s screwball comedy predating the Women's Movement. Besides Lei, the other fly in the ointment consists of having swingers for neighbors, with Marcus London and bosomy Janet Mason doing a fine job in supporting roles.
Wicked throws in a contest winner for another sex scene (in flashback, limning the characters of the house's previous owners) opposite Rocco Reed and the lovely amateur (with aquiline nose) Angelica Saige acquits herself well in XXX action on a blanket outside, though she is sans emotion in her screen debut. She went on to a useful Adult film career. Raven, however, seems to have retired after this film (who knows why?).
Showpiece is a brief SPFX scene in which Lei, bearing the cutest fairy eyelashes which she flutters often, sneaks in the bedroom window and strokes Eric's cock as if grabbing a May Pole -the cock being bigger than she is. It's a delightful touch of whimsy and erotic in the process, while later she magically is able to change herself into a full-size woman/fairy to hump Eric at the time of the full moon.
Exasperated Stormy even dresses up in a pink fairy outfit replete with wings later in the film, and it adds a piquant touch you'll only find in British porn where labels like Bluebird and Killergram frequently feature fairies as female sex objects (that term applied to gays apparently not a popular slur in England where I guess they used to call such folk "inverts" and the like).
It's a concise, consistently entertaining feature, replete with safe sex condoms (worn even when humping Kaylani the fairy), that has completely gone out of style after Adult briefly made money with the "Romance" genre several years ago.
