Did You Know This Film Franchise Has Won The Most Oscars? ( Photo Credit – IMDb; Facebook )
The Oscars 2024 are just around the corner; this year, all eyes will be on Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. The film and cast have taken home some top honors this award season. It is one of the biggest honors in the world of cinema. Over the years, many actors and films have won the prestigious Academy Awards, and some franchises have won multiple trophies, but do you know which popular film franchise has the highest number of Oscars?
For the unversed, the Academy Awards were first held in 1929 at a private dinner function at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. It had an audience of about 270 people only. 2024 is the 96th year, with many more years to go. Actors and filmmakers give their best in every project, including the crew members, and this honor acknowledges their hard work...

The four-day Nightmare program once again delivers a must-see lineup collected from new and beloved genre voices around the world, with highlights including the boundary-smashing queer coming-of-age midnighter The People’s Joker, notoriously pulled from TIFF; the world premiere of Zac Locke’s (#Float) psychological Christmas horror Santa Isn’t Real; the U.S. premiere of Stewart Sparke’s (Book of Monsters) classic-creature horror comedy How to Kill Monsters; horror comedy anthology Cryptids, featuring The Last Drive-In’s Joe Bob Briggs; and nightmare fuel Abruptio, a descent into madness created entirely with lifelike puppets.

I’m not the biggest fan of documentaries, and with time, my dislike for them only grows. Glitch: The Rise And Fall Of HQ Trivia is one of the documentaries that I had no interest in because I had unfortunately never heard of the game, and the mouthful of a title alone makes me uninterested in what it has to say. Subjective thoughts aside, Glitch very clearly pushes a certain agenda with a singular point of view, making it hard to take seriously. It’s Quiz Daddy’s show from start to finish, and that’s possibly not what people are looking for going into the show. There’s really nothing positive to take away from the documentary, and that’s what makes it not so fun to watch, either. Tech companies and their growth are worth talking about and looking at, but this movie does so little about the...

Remember HQ Trivia? It didn’t end so well.
But apparently TikTok is hoping it can do better.
Starting Feb. 22, the platform is hosting five days’ worth of live, interactive, HQ Trivia-esque events with a total prize pool of $500,000.
The whole shebang, called TikTok Trivia, will be hosted by TikToker James Henry (4.2 million followers) and streamed from TikTok’s official @TikTok account. It’s sponsored by Lionsgate and upcoming film John Wick: Chapter 4.
“Game shows and trivia had been a part of popular culture for years, and I’m thrilled to work with TikTok to bring this engaging entertainment format to TikTok Live,” Henry said in a statement. “TikTok Trivia has the power to bring people together, creating an electrifying atmosphere filled with excitement and a shared sense of community.”

The Beatles altered the musical landscape with Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and not just with the music. Its kaleidoscopic color-bomb collage cover stood in stark contrast to many albums of the era. It was the first album the Fab Four released after they stopped touring and put a nail into the coffin of Beatlemania that John Lennon wanted to hammer for years. Sgt. Pepper’s cover included dozens of famous faces in addition to John, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. Ringo worked with two of them on notable projects outside of The Beatles.

The Ultimate Guide to Strange Cinema is a new book from Michael Vaughn which does what it says in the title. Delivering a comprehensive guide to some of the strangest films from around the world, which includes a mixture of the good, the bad and the just plain ugly. Written with a humour and an appreciation for the qualities of a badly made B-Movie if it has something to offer. The reviews often citing the merits of the film as well as its faults, but each time there there is a sound explanation as to why it should be included in the list. There is no definition as to what type of film should be included so there is an eclectic mixture of films from all genres; from the bizarrely enticing titles of An American hippie in Israel...

With its mix of light drama and warm humour, Grand Pictures production 'Trivia' built up a loyal cult following on Rte last year thanks to clever scripts by Damien Owens and stellar performances by an Irish cast led by Co Down actor David Pearse. Ahead of the return of series two tomorrow night (September 6) on Rte One, Pearse spends five minutes with Iftn to discuss the new series; the influences on his acting career; and shooting the much-anticipated History Channel series 'Vikings' at the new Ashford Studios in Co Wicklow opposite Gabriel Byrne.
