Annie Potts is no stranger to series finales, having experienced several through the years. But there’s something different about the end of “Young Sheldon,” the “Big Bang Theory” prequel that concludes on May 16. “I still don’t understand why they canceled it,” she says. “It just seemed like such a stupid business move.”
Potts, who plays saucy Connie “MeeMaw” Tucker on “Young Sheldon,” says she remains puzzled by CBS’s decision to end the series — even though it’s still a strong ratings performer for the network.
Nonetheless, “Young Sheldon” did wrap production on its seventh and final season last week. A few days later, Variety talked with Potts, and co-star Iain Armitage (the socially awkward 14-year-old genius Sheldon Cooper), about how they’re feeling about the show’s end. The duo also shared their reaction to Jim Parsons’ return as the adult Sheldon in the finale episode and previewed this week’s episode,...

Film sets can be dangerous places to work. There are so many moving pieces — actors, crew, cameras, props, sets, stunts — that are often in motion, sometimes simultaneously, that things can too easily go wrong. And on the stunt front, where sequences intentionally put performers in physical danger, situations may get downright deadly.
Thankfully, most sets employ experienced stunt coordinators to make sure everything happens as planned. Ted Sharon, a teacher at the Society of American Fight Directors, explained the role of a stunt coordinator to Backstage. "A qualified stunt coordinator will be able to describe as well as demonstrate, or have an assistant who can execute the sequence," he said. "Good stunt coordinators have a healthy regard for actor safety as well as for the director's vision. They are the guardians of both on set."
Still, no matter how much care is taken to make sure everyone has rehearsed, equipment's been checked,...

Billy Joe Shaver, the outlaw-country original who wrote classic songs for the likes of Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings and whose “Live Forever” was performed by Robert Duvall in the 2009 Best Picture Oscar nominee Crazy Heart, died today after a stroke in Waco, TX. He was 81. A friend confirmed his death to our sister publication Rolling Stone.
Although Shaver never had much commercial success as a recording artist, he is widely considered among country’s greatest songwriters. All but one of the tracks on Jennings’ 1973 album Honky Tonk Heroes — an early benchmark of the “outlaw country” genre — were written or co-written by Shaver, including its famous title cut. His best-known songs also include “Ain’t No God in Mexico” “I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal (But I’m Gonna Be a Diamond Some Day),” “Georgia on a Fast Train,” “Tramp on Your Street” and “Try and Try Again.

It's true; you get more bees with honey than with vinegar.
Perhaps if Margaret and Eric took heed of her very words, then they wouldn't have bitten off more than they could chew with Ginger and her brothers on Filthy Rich Season 1 Episode 1.
With lies, scandals, betrayal, backstabbing, and a sprinkling of Jesus, Filthy Rich isn't reinventing the wheel here, but it's sinfully delicious, primetime-soap goodness.
Filthy Rich feels like Dynasty meets Empire with shades of the late, beloved series Gcb (Good Christian B*tches) and Grand Hotel. It has camp and drama, but it also has the potential to be a heck of a lot of fun.
We're in an age where escapist TV is much-needed but rarely delivered -- or appreciated when it is. It's something I've griped about before, which is why Filthy Rich is such a comfort.
The pilot laid out the platform on which the series will build.

The CW is working on a new take on “Good Christian Bitches,” seven years after ABC’s short-lived adaption titled “Gcb.” A new drama series based on Kim Gatlin’s 2008 book is in the works at the network — and it’s set in a high school, an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.
Jordon Nardino — creator of The CW’s “Glamorous” pilot, which was not ordered to series — will write and executive produce the show, which is a retooling of the “Good Christian Bitches” reboot that was in development at The CW last season, that one from writer Leila Cohan-Miccio. Darren Star and Aaron Kaplan, who produced the ABC series, are also back on board to executive produce.

Exclusive: The CW is developing Good Christian Bitches, an hourlong series based on Kim Gatlin’s book of the same name, which comes from Glamorous writer Jordon Nardino, Darren Star, and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment.
This is a brand new take on the concept, shifting the action to high school. Written by Nardino, it’s described as Clueless set in a Christian high school in tone. At a prestigious private Christian high school in Dallas, a war stoking the student body’s social divides erupts when the new girl on campus, the atheist daughter of a minister, inadvertently tangles with three popular girls who blame her for ruining their lives.
Nardino executive produces with Star and Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor. CBS Television Studios produces in association with ABC Studios, whose participation stems from having produced the first Good Christian Bitches series adaptation.

Younger just dropped the first big twist of its upcoming sixth season: Despite previously announced plans to relocate the Darren Star dramedy to Paramount Network, it will instead remain at TV Land, our sister site Deadline reports. Production has already begun on Season 6, which is expected to premiere sometime this year.
Darren Star’s new series Emily in Paris — with The Last Tycoon‘s Lily Collins now cast in the title role — will still premiere on Paramount Network, unlike the new First Wives Club series, which Viacom has now shuffled over to Bet. Until Younger returns, TV Land will be without any original scripted programming.

It starred Leslie Bibb, Jennifer Aspen, Marisol Nichols, Miriam Shor, David James Elliott, Mark Deklin, Brad Beyer, Annie Potts, and Kristin Chenoweth.

The CW is taking another shot at “Good Christian Bitches,” looking to adapt the Kim Gatlin novel for television once again, six years after ABC’s short-lived adaption titled “Gcb.”

We're still counting down the days to the Younger Season 3 premiere, and celebrating with our interview of Miriam Shor and Peter Hermann from the Atx Festival this summer. Miram plays Liza's boss, Diana and Peter plays Diana's boss and Liza's potential love interest, Charles.
Much like Molly Bernard and Dan Amboyer, I've been a fan of Miriam Shor's for quite some time, so we began by talking about her work in Gcb and the underrated gem Swingtown.
Leaving Peter Hermann out of the initial conversation meant hearing his voice was a shocking surprise. It's deep and quite lovely in person. Miriam used the term resonant and it was fun watching Peter get a little bit uncomfortable before the real conversation began, and what a conversation it was. I hope you enjoy reading it.
We have to talk about the episode where Charles had his pants situation, which earned a brilliant reaction from Diana.

At the Atx Festival this summer, I had the privilege of sitting down with four different sets of couples who make up the wonderful talent behind Younger.
The first interview we're running is with series creator Darren star and one of the stars, Debi Mazar, who plays Maggie. It speaks for itself!
I hope you enjoy the conversation.
What was the genesis of Younger?
Darren: Well, it was originally a book that I found several years ago, and I was always really intrigued by the premise of a woman who left the workforce to have kids and raised a family and then, basically, 14 years later wanted to get back to work and found that doors were closed and she was too old. I knew women who had basically had that same experience in Hollywood. You know, after 12 years or even longer, you come back and find it's really tough...

The television world has been searching for something in whatever genre you want to place TV Land‘s Younger for at least seven years. Efforts have come and gone, with varying degrees of success, but none of them have managed to really catch hold. The demographic has had options to entertain them, but not absolutely in the genre.
