It was a ok movie
mzefabulous25 March 2022
The boyfriend didn't use common sense because the woman's intention for him was very obvious. The girlfriend didn't put her foot down and demanded respect, so there wasn't any. Things was just to obvious and they was clueless, which made the movie not as good as it could have been.

This Movie Is So Phoney, Its Ridiculous!
cassysak29 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First, something that the writers and producers completely failed to cover or go over for about 80% of the entire movie. Was simply the fact that the man was absolutely imobile for any type of walking whatsoever. If Ben would even put the sligest amount of presure on his legs he'd ehale out in pain. S just how and when did he use the bathroom within the whole months he was held captive sitting up in that bed? Shame that ine thought to cover that. Even in the best Lifetime captivity Movies they all cover or at least write in bathroom liguistics. They failed miserably with basic details herea which makes this such a terrible , poorly written Movie!

Poor acting
jduffey37 September 2023
Poor acting but worst was Eli Jane.

Over acting just wasn't believable in her acting. Not first movie I have seen her in and ruined movie for me when the person is bad at acting. Just when I thought the acting couldn't get any worse. Sorry just not impressed with Anything she's been in. Almost stored movie but I can't stand not completing anything.

Jamie Roy was a good actor one out of 3 main characters. So were the actores who played the detectives.

Brey Noelle wasnt bad but could have been better.

Jess, Will and Derek were good actores. They did a good job.

Story line could have been better. It was weak. Bad acting ruins even the best of movies and story lines.

Why Are We Watching this?
hoops-5343630 June 2022
We asked ourselves that question several times but the question morphed into "Who casted this stinker?" And that question morphed into "who the heck wrote this drivel?" There wasn't a single character that you cared about. Matter of fact, you could have walked out on the sidewalk and assembled a better cast in, like, five minutes.

Ben, or Lance, or whatever- was a total waste of time in this film, but it did look like he practiced diligently on jerking downward on the chains. (Talk about a little "Misery" rip off.....) And Calli???? No guts, no glory.

This one has very little entertainment value. Forgettaboutit!

This movie seems like it was written by a 14 year old boy. However it's it the catagory of being so stupid, it's hilarious. Me and my wife have some one liners from it 😂

Nothing new here; Super annoying villain. I finished the movie.

Warning: Spoilers
She just got more and more ridiculous. I really feel that there have been and we've all seen too many movies for obliviousness to still be the thing that drives these movies. Did that feel like an assistant job, Ben? Did it not occur to you that someone with that large house didn't have anyone else around? Aren't most guys who get in the crosshairs of clingy women like this usually turned off? How was he so clueless? How is he ready to propose to his gf yet so dismissive of her concerns? I didn't read a synopsis of this before I watched it (thought it was a different movie), but nothing in this was surprising. Even the escalating scene where Ben is injured...how else was she going to keep him around if she didn't impair him? There was so much of the movie left. The only thing that I found shocking in this movie is that Ben actually ate something Amanda tried to force feed him. Wait, the other shocking thing was that per usual for Lifetime, I just knew she was going to get him arrested by saying he assaulted her. The movie subverted my expectations with these two things.

I hated that his friend was murdered. It seemed so excessive considering the ending. I really wish Ben was more involved in his own rescue. Whenever there's an obsessed nut character like the villain, it just makes more sense for the object of their obsession to defeat them. I did like how Callie, the gf, knew something was wrong even though she was sent "evidence" of Ben "cheating" and his "leaving town." The actress playing Amanda was trying too hard in my opinion. Something about her trying to be sexy, evil, and nuts was just really cringe.

For me, Ben didn't try that hard to get out of there. He should have headbutt her at least once like James Caan did in Misery. His plan with the music was smart, but since it ultimately went nowhere, they should have let him try again to free himself.

Misery is still the standard for a "captive" movie like this, thirty years later. If you want to watch a tv movie about someone injured being held captive (but not romantically) by a psycho, watch Mad Mom instead. Or People Under the Stairs...which is quite different, but always worth mentioning.

It was an easy, but annoying, watch.

P. S. I wish these movies will get a book of names and pick almost anything other than Ben, Calli, Hayley, Jack, Annie, Maya, Nick, Abbie, Sawyer, Jake, Emma, etc. I watch a lot of TCM and there are more names now than there were back in the classic days. Even in those films not every character was a George or John or Margaret or Sarah etc. I realize that the way the movies are churned out, that it's probably easy to just rotate these names to keep them easy for audiences to remember, but please be more creative.

VIEWS ON FILM review of Your Boyfriend is Mine
burlesonjesse510 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A working class, young guy with a cutesy girlfriend, takes on a lucrative job as a house manager to a businesswoman. What we know about said businesswoman is that she's got a ton of moolah and is a bit cray cray. What we don't know is what she actually does for a living. Maybe she doesn't work at all and it's merely inheritance (oh the horror).

Released last month and filmed possibly in Atlanta, GA (just guessing), Your Boyfriend is Mine is another Lifetime vehicle where you know the antagonist is off within a good 10-15 minutes. And in classic Lifetime fashion, the protagonist is oblivious to all this and decides to just ride the situation out (otherwise there'd be no movie).

Eli Jane plays manipulative well-to-doer Amanda Roberts while Jamie Roy plays house boy Ben Howard. Jane is pretty evil in her role as an attractive female who has weird methods of snagging a man (doesn't make sense but whatever). Roy however, needs a few more acting lessons cause it feels like he's well, acting (hey at least he looks the part).

Their courtship (or pseudo courtship) is pretty strange, a sort of Kathy Bates Misery where only one leg gets damaged. At times, Your Boyfriend is Mine can be pretty upsetting and you truly want Jane's Roberts to get what's coming to her. Other times you wonder why this sort of trash is worth viewing considering that the whole state of affairs is like a PowerPoint presentation on lady paramountcy (money isn't everything and Amanda never comes off as normal in any capacity).

With "Boyfriend", at least the villain actually gets caught and does time as opposed to getting away. And yeah, Lifetime provides some justice for once. Finally, the flick doesn't need a twist or two to get the job done. "Hey-la-day-la my boyfriend's back".

Decent Lifetime thriller!
Chartreuse121 March 2022
Ben, who goes by "Lance" meets a wealthy woman named Amanda while working a party even though he is in a serious relationship. Little does he know that Amanda is a psycho who ends up offering him a job as her personal assistant and he accepts. Then she wants him to move in with her so she can get him all to herself and will stop at nothing to keep him! What happens? You will have to tune in. Kudos to Eli Jane as Amanda for good acting! Definitely recommended!
