Keeping Up With Randalls-When it's All for the Family ***

Warning: Spoilers
Typical Hallmark fanfare where a young lady goes to meet her boyfriend's family. They're a very competitive bunch and right away we have the tradition of the city girl versus rural life. When the family invited their son's ex-girlfriend for the holiday, this certainly doesn't make things easier. Naturally, our young lady has a disastrous time as she is not exactly athletically capable.

Marion Ross co-stars as a grandma in the know and she is sympathetic too.

As this is a Hallmark production, it's so very predictable. There is the ultimate conflict and then the understanding.

It's about family and competitiveness. Something has to give.

Be Yourself

Warning: Spoilers
Children's fashion designer Marnette Patterson goes with her boyfriend to his sister's wedding and clashes with his horror of a competitive family. However, after the usual tantrums and tears, she proves her worth to them and herself and things turn out happily.

This subpar Hallmark Channel TV movie runs its predictable course with no surprises, mediocre photography and a simple, cheerful countrified soundtrack that grates on the ears after about twenty minutes. Even Marion Ross, playing the wise but chipper grandmother, can do little with her role and the characters, when they are defined at all -- one brother loves playing the guitar, the bride-to-be manages the family sports store brilliantly and a cousin pops up for the big hare-and-tortoise race where everyone bonds. Smug, obvious and boring, this is one you can skip.
