I think this mini-film really gets us in the Monster High vibe, preparing us for the rest of the franchise!

If you like Monster High films, do not be surprised if you like this one. So far so predictable.
If you like YA type novels, then a look to the set of four YA novels by Lisi Harrison should appeal a lot. These also cover Frankie starting school, at Merston High, and the storyline and settings through the four novels is very different to the films.
So, there are also some Monster High stories, so far not about Frankie starting school, that do follow the film storylines but they are more for younger readers, definitely not YA.
Personally I prefer the four YA novels to this film, but that is not unusual and the film is still okay. Good fashion too.

For the first Monster High movie it wasn't too bad. There were things that needed adjustments but it wasn't awful. The voice acting was terrific as well as the message about staying true to yourself. Plus, I really enjoyed the animation.
Overall, it would be more enjoyable for younger kids
A solid premise, but a disappointing outcome

Warning: Spoilers
"Monster High: New Ghoul at School" is a 23-minute animated short film made for the small screen back in 2010. This is one of many Monster High short films, so if you know the series, perhaps you already know what to expect here. The plays on words (Cool/ghoul kids, yearbook/fearbook) aren't all that bad, but the real strength of the film lies somewhere else, namely the technical aspect. Visually, it's a pretty fine achievement in terms of character as well as location animation and the sound work was even recognized by two fairly important awards bodies. But all this doesn't help if other crucial aspects are a disappointment. On the one hand, this would be the script and story. The general premise with one girl coming new to Monster High and trying to find somewhere to belong is decent, but the story in detail is just very shallow and uninspired I would say. The name Frankie Stein also does not exactly ooze creativity. No comment on Justin Spider. It's especially disappointing to see so many writers work on this one and then this is all they can come up with? Doesn't cut the came. The voice acting is also one of the weaker aspects for this one and it was at times difficult to understand what exactly they were saying. So yeah, they just did not make enough of the solid premise here and I give it a thumbs-down. Not recommended.
Not long enough and Frankie Sucks more than before!

I renember being Finding out about Monster High After the release of the gen 2 reboot, most of the characters were Cool, BUT I LOVED DRACULAURA And Frankie Was a Deuche Canoe. I found out about this Movie when my friend mentioned that the Franchise was as old as 2010. I Watched It and i was dissapointed, The Character Ghoulia Sounded like a dead cat on cocaine and She was ugly. Frankie Turned into more of a pick me girl and It Took too long for Draculaura To come in, Lagoona Also made a lackluster Entrance and the thought of Cleo as a villain and Friends with Ghoulia Just melts my braincells :(
