A.J. Cook, who plays a victim, also is a main character on Criminal Minds (2005), another long-running police procedural.

Det. Tutuola (Ice-T) says "Dwyane and Harry called 911 right after they got done playing a little Rear Window". This is a reference to Rear Window (1954), an American mystery thriller film, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The plot involves a professional photographer with a broken leg, who whiles away the time by spying on his neighbors through his window. However, his pastime becomes serious when he witnesses an apparent murder. It is considered by many film-goers, critics, and scholars to be one of Hitchcock's best, as well as one of the greatest films ever made. The film was remade in 1998, starring Christopher Reeve in one of his final screen appearances.
