Nearly all of us know someone who has used an online dating site like OkCupid, or who has joined a chat room or a message board in the hopes of finding love there. As the Internet has grown in popularity, so have the ways that people have been able to connect with each other. At first the idea of meeting someone online carried a form of stigma, implying that one wasn’t able to meet someone in real life. Yet it’s clear that finding true love isn’t easy, so why not turn to the Internet for a bit of guidance? When Strangers Click shows us that heartwarming side of the web. The HBO documentary, from Oscar-nominated director Robert Kenner (Food Inc.), shares the stories of five individuals who turned to the Internet for company and found a lot more than they bargained for.

HBO is premiering When Strangers Click--a documentary from Food Inc. Robert Kenner about the online search for human connection--on (how fitting) Valentine's Day. The film's Facebook page is requesting your stories--and features some cool Wall posts--about online love-searching experiences. The doc "about the way we woo in a wired world" is investigating whether online dating sites have actually made it easier to find love. Here's a taste of what the doc has in store: "Kim packed a wedding gown and flew to Prague to marry a man she had only met online. Dave met scores of women before having to reveal a physical shortcoming. At 30, Beth had given up on love before going online. Ryan Googled “gay” to figure out who he was. And Jonas literally found a new life through his Second Life avatar. When these strangers clicked, their lives changed forever."...
