Sex & Nudity

  • Contains several non-explicit sex scenes throughout the series as well as frank verbal references to sexual activity and/or desire.
  • One storyline revolves around a 40 year old man having an affair with a 16 year old girl. In one scene, it is implied that they engage in mutual masturbation.
  • Contains some mild nudity (including bare breasts and buttocks). Such instances include that of a woman breastfeeding her son. A man appears to be masturbating in a few scenes and his bare back is clearly visible in one instance. Other instances of implied masturbation are completely obscured by focusing on the character's face.

Violence & Gore

  • A man slaps a child.
  • A man abuses his wife by grabbing her by the hair and threatening her. In a flashback sequence, the wife is shown to be bruised and battered and crying.
  • Also contains infrequent moments of brutal violence, however, they are revealed to have been egoistic fantasies of the person visualising the violence.
  • A boy tries to commit suicide by taking pills.

Profanity

  • Contains frequent coarse language throughout the series; including the use of the word "fuck" both aggressively and conversationally.
  • The phrase "God is a c--------er" is repeated several times in one episode.
  • Also contains occasional use of milder terms (e.g. "crap", "shit" etc).
  • Some racial slurs are used infrequently.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Contains some instances of cocaine use.
  • Characters can be seen smoking and/or drinking casually throughout the series.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The series deals with themes such as domestic abuse, child abuse, a false rape accusation, statutory rape and abortion.
