Not bad, Short...but sweet.

Well, reading through the other reviews here it's clear that you should really try or at least research before stating any kind of opinion as the first review was completely wrong. Yes, it's a little far fetched i'll give you that but as the second review stated FPS' are meant to be fun not realistic. Name me one FPS that is based on realistic events? Even the likes of ARMA which is a military simulator has parts made up, but the others - Halo, Gears of War, Army of Two, Call of Duty even! Anyway as for the game the storyline was pretty good especially considering it gave you a little history on how it happened which was Korea unifying in forces north and south and making their way to invading the US which was partly believable. The single player was far too short, I finished it on the hardest difficulty in just over 3 hours which to be honest is probably the biggest downfall of the game. The graphics are not spectacular but pretty good none the less, the gameplay is practically close enough for all those COD lovers out there to enjoy it. Unfortunately AI doesn't have much to offer in this title about as useful as a chocolate fire guard, but doesn't really make much difference on the experience. I found very little glitches throughout the game which was a great thing to see, it was fairly violent especially seeing a few disturbing images which I guess portrays war in it's most honest self.

As for the multiplayer side of this game, very much like Call of Duty but a bit more upscale, choosing from a 32 player game mode to a 24 to a 16. The game modes are quite fun and it's alright to play online. As I got bored of Call of Duty Modern Warfare though after a while online play on Homefront get's a little sameish and it's just about levelling up, unlocking weapons....the usual. I would highly recommend this to any COD lover, or just generally any FPS fanatic other than that it's safe to say its another generic FPS and if they bore you, stay away!

Homefront Review

I got this game on PC in a THQ farewell bundle. Something about that THQ filed for bankruptcy for some reason. I played it on Steam with a controller and it was kinda okay. The story is about North Korea's leader Kim Joung-il giving control to his son. He then unites the Korea's, they take on the world, and actually succeed in doing so. Didn't really understand the entire story. I remember Angry Joe saying in his review of this that North Korea couldn't invade the U.S. if they wanted. Something about they couldn't supply their armies for an extended occupation. Basically North Korea invading America is far-fetched in reality. While playing the game it was a little shocking all the war stuff. At some point you take control of a Goliath tank and it looks amazing. The freedom fights are pretty bland and you don't really get attached to them. Even all the stuff that happens like the white phosphorus and stuff seems all for nothing. The single player game is only 3 to 4 hours and I expected more for the game and the original Red Dawn writer. Yeah he helped make this even though it's pretty short. Multiplayer I heard is real good but I haven't played that part yet. Not because of trolling I just thought no one plays it but I'll see if anyone on Steam does. Also heard they'll make a sequel and I hope it's better.

Expecting so much more...

Homefront may not be a movie cash in but this game was lacking in my view.

There are only six missions or "chapters" but when played on the guerilla difficulty they can be a real challenge.

You spend most of the game fighting the North Korean invasion with a mate or two. There is a very large variety of weapons but you will discover those as you move through the game.

I just thought that this game would and could look a bit better. At times, sometimes, it could be mistaken to be ahead of its time but most of the time more character was needed.

Don't go in to this expecting a game which is rich in graphic enhancement. You should go in to this game expecting just a cheap thrill. Achievements (I played on the Microsoft Xbox 360) are there but most of them have to do with playing through the game a couple of times.

I mean, okay, I played on the Xbox 360 but meh, you look at movies on YouTube comparing the console systems with the personal computer and the only difference you see are there are jagged edges (comically referred to as jaggies) in the graphics and no jagged edges on the more late systems. It is this which makes or break any game across the board.

Just buy it, have a play and cross it off the list.

No COD but pretty damn good.

Firstly, contrary to the other review, it is not an Invasion by North Korea but a unified Korea aided and abetted by many anti-American nations. And contrary to the supposed goof, the enemy took Hawaii on the way to the States and hence are not an ocean away and have a very good more than mid-way supply base.

Secondly, it's an action game and meant to be fun - hell, I like been Rambo!. How someone can review anything without ever having seen/played it should disqualify their opinion at once.

The game is violent and would be upsetting if you don't know what's coming. It is fast paced and the story is full and intense as should be considering it is written by the writers of Apocalypse Now and Red Dawn - excellent credentials for a game of this genre and they do not disappoint.

Online Multiplay is massive and varied with the chance to pilot drones, hummers, tanks and a plethora of other vehicles making it significantly different to Call of Duty which is my preferred FPS but overall, this is a superb game which should please fans of the game type.

If I have one small criticism it is that one of the main characters sounds very much like a South Parks characters dad and whenever I hear him, i can't get that out of my mind!
