I’ve got a crazy fun series of custom-made Nike sneakers that were created by Instagram user @pokemonnikeid. Each design is based on a different Pokemon, and he is even taking requests for designs that he’ll create for you using Nike ID. It’s pretty awesome seeing how well the designs of these shoes match up with the corresponding Pokemon characters. Of course, you can always just go to Nike ID and create your own.

Given the town and fans he’s set on fire for 20 years, Kobe Bryant’s farewell game Wednesday followed a fitting Hollywood script. The Black Mamba dropped a massive 60 points on the Utah Jazz last night, and the crowd loved every single bucket. It was a huge game for the aging, achy superstar, though he did launch 50 attempts to fill the stats sheet — that’s a ton of shots. Still, 60 was the most Bryant’s poured in since early 2009. And to make things better, the struggling Los Angeles Lakers actually won, with Kobe scoring 15 of his team’s final 17...

After an iconic 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant played his final game on Wednesday night. The 37-year-old father of two played his final game against the Utah Jazz, leading the Lakers to a 101-96 victory with 60 points on 22-50 shooting in 42 minutes. Even in his last game, Bryant broke yet another record, becoming the first player to end his career with a 60-point game. The Black Mamba scored 22 points at the half after playing in the entire first-quarter. He took 20 shots - his most of any half this season - making seven of them. His stamina...

Lamar Odom had some thoughtful words for Kobe Bryant on Wednesday night as the basketball superstar took the floor for his last game. "Bean, what's up. It's your little brother Lo. I just want to tell you I love you. You had a great career," Odom said in a video, which aired in the Staples Center prior to the game. "I'm proud to say I was right with you, Kobe Bean." Kobe Bryant doesn't have the energy to deal with negativity and criticism at a time like this. The Los Angeles Lakers star broke his silence today concerning the tragic event revolving around his friend and former teammate Lamar Odom by writing a powerful message about the critics questioning the sincerity of his support for Lo at this time. "When we feel the need to question the support of others in moments as critical as a life hanging in the balance, then we must question the kind of culture we have created that has led us to such insensitive suspicion," Bryant posted on Twitter, with the hashtag "#JustPray." The Black Mamba didn't call anyone out by name, but the timing of his...

Sure, we have all seen our share of an “Unstable Mabel” in cinema throughout the years. Some, more than others, do stand out in craziness, chaos and curiosity. These furious females in film–at least the ones that we will spotlight in this particular movie column–have something to their off-kilter filter that dares to dig deep on so many psychological levels of frivolity and fury.
In Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned: Top 10 Damaged Divas in the Movies we will examine some of the warped women on the big screen that have a sense of demented diva-like dimensions to their cockeyed characterizations. These mistresses of misbehaving all demonstrate various kinds of detachment and dysfunction that capture our puzzling imaginations. Are there perhaps even stronger and more memorable bombastic she-beasts that have a certain score to settle against their detractors or society as a whole? Of course. However, the...

At GeekTyrant we love Disney princesses, and we love Black Milk clothing. (Pretty much the coolest thing I’ve ever seen was a leggy brunette wearing these leggings with a silk tunic and sandals. It was so chic.) So when we heard about Black Milk’s new Princesses and Villains collection, we were excited. And while it’s a little bit hit or miss (this swimsuit baffles me) and some of the pieces are a little bit young (I like this suit but maybe a toddler should wear it), there are some great pieces lurking in the collection. Here are a few of our favorites.

Beijing – China is officially a secular Communist state, but devotion to basketball is close to a religion, and fans here were positively ecstatic at the arrival of their idol, Kobe Bryant, in the world's most populous nation this week. The Black Mamba's legions of fans trilled with ecstasy at his every move, even though he was consigned to the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers during their defeat to Oakland's Golden State Warriors on Tuesday. Story: Inside China's Hoop Dreams Bryant was nursing a torn Achilles tendon, and was clearly missed, both by his team, who lost 105-95 in

Read at your own risk! There be spoilers ahead, matey. "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" cameo spoilers, to be specific.
This particular cameo has been out there already, but, what's new here is that director/co-writer Adam McKay has unleashed a bunch of details.
You've been warned.
Remember those photos of Kanye West that surfaced from the "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" set? Well, McKay recently had plenty to say about the participation of the rapper-turned-actor who is of course baby daddy to Kim Kardashian, bully to Taylor Swift, performance artist on "SNL" and the man The President of the United States twice referred to as a "jackass."
There was no jackassery on display on the Atlanta set of the hotly anticipated Will Ferrell comedy sequel, however.
We already know that West will be choking Steve Carrell with a hockey stick during a big brawl. Now we know what a nice and happy guy he can be.

Trailblazing the way for more rap documentaries just as A Tribe Called Quest did for its genre’s musical potential, Beats Rhymes & Life is a passion project by first-time director Michael Rapaport that goes deep into how important the quartet was during the ’90s. As heard in both underground and mainstream rap acts today, the influence of the group (who included members Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White) is still prominent.
I sat down with first-time director Rapaport and Atcq member Phife Dawg to discuss the group’s influence on modern culture, the small existence of rap documentaries, the excitement of rap music in the ’80s, and more.
Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest opens in Chicago on July 15.
There’s a lot of talk in this documentary about respect and influence. Is that an important component to musical history? Are financial numbers equal,...

If you've been itching to see Kobe Bryant star in his own action movie (or action short in this case), your time has arrived. Plotline: Kanye West (yes, that Kanye) wants Kobe Bryant's shoes, and he's prepared to send Danny Trejo, Bruce Willis and a squad of henchmen to get them. Robert Rodriguez directs Bryant in the new five-minute, Nike-sponsored short film, using a gritty Grindhouse-style tone reminiscent of other recent Rodriguez projects like Machete and Planet Terror. Take a look at the short, and let us know what you think…does Kobe have the charisma to be a big screen idol (remember Michael Jordan in Space Jam)? Want to see more installments of The Black Mamba?

Nike has been really upping their game in the promo/viral field of late. You may recall that the company recently managed to acquire the talents of cinematic big-hitters Alejandro González Iñárritu and Terry Gilliam to deliver incredible-looking, inventive, big-budget adverts.
Now Texas-based Diy action auteur Robert Rodriquez has produced a five minute viral where he plays himself, pitching a film idea to Us basketball superstar Kobe Bryant where the sportsman will appear as an alter-ego named The Black Mamba.
The film comes to life through the meeting and three big names (Danny Trejo as The Crippler, Bruce Willis as Mister Suave and Kanye West as The Boss) all appear as potential casing ideas as the story progresses.
It’s a fun, flashy viral, very much in the vein of Rodriquez’s recent work (particularly with the Grindhouse-esque introductory character title cards) and it ends with a ball game...

NBA All-Star Weekend took Hollywood by storm in more ways than one, introducing Kobe Bryant as the latest athlete to turn actor. Well, sorta: The Kobe-starring short film The Black Mamba, directed by Robert Rodriguez, is a meta, self-aware bit of Nike product placement that envisions Bryant as a grindhouse-style action hero who must contend with the likes of Danny Trejo, Bruce Willis, and Kanye West to defend... a pair of shoes. Well we've been seeing teasers for this intriguing short film pop up online over the past few weeks, and although I kinda thought it would be a Super Bowl commercial, they ended up saving it for the NBA All Star Game instead. (It may also end up playing in theatres as well.) Yes, it's a six-minute long Nike commercial directed by Robert Rodriguez, but before you call the man a sellout, you might want to give it a look. You see, the short film is done in the style of his Grindhouse trailers and films, with Kobe Bryant playing an action hero by the name of The Black Mamba. It also happens to star Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo and even Kanye West. The entire thing is now available on YouTube, and if you ask me, it's actually a lot of fun. Not only would I pay to see this as a feature length movie,...

Director Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, Machete, Sin City) premiered his short film The Black Mamba starring Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant during the NBA All Star weekend. Rodriguez, Bryant, along with Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo and Kanye West, delivered the first ever basketball-influenced grindhouse short called The Black Mamba. It fits very comfortably into the grindhouse wheelhouse for Rodriguez, so if you’re a fan of Planet Terror and Machete, this is definitely worth a watch. Enjoy !

So director Robert Rodriguez and basketball star Kobe Bryant teamed up to make a little action-packed short film with explosions for Nike called The Black Mamba, which is Bryant's on-court alter ego. The short also stars Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo, and Kanye West.
This is actually a really fun and entertaining video that I think most of you will enjoy. Bryant has to take on a villain known as The Boss, whose goal is to get The Black Mamba's shoes.
They thought it'd be an easy battle...they thought wrong.

NBA All Star Weekend has just concluded and besides the All Star Game, 3-Point Shootout and Slam Dunk Contest, one of the biggest happenings in the world of the basketball was a new film by Robert Rodriguez. The director of Sin City and Spy Kids teamed up with Nike and Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, along with Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo and Kanye West, for a basketball-influenced grindhouse short action film called The Black Mamba. We showed you the poster and a few trailers [1] for the 6 minute movie earlier this month and now, we've got the full film embedded after the jump. Don't forget, this is a Nike sponsored movie [2] so the shoe shots are gratuitous. But, as Rodriguez says in the film, "Product placement gives us a bigger budget. Bigger budget? Bigger explosions." Fun, right? But not as fun as I thought it was going to be. I...

If you saw the All-Star game, you'll know that Kobe Bryant just won the All-Star Mvp honors after being the only guy on the court playing a serious game of basketball. Still, we can all blame it on his alter ego, The Black Mamba for taking what is supposed to be a fun-filled joke-athon weekend so seriously.
As a promotional film for Nike, Robert Rodriguez made a short film starring some great talents like Bruce Willis, Kanye West and Danny Trejo. Kobe Bryant led the Western Conference All-Stars to a win over the East tonight by scoring 37-points. Ok, a lot of that was because he played more minutes than anyone else and everyone on his team sort of stood back and let him do this thing. All-stars don't play defense. Did anyone see that sweet fade-away field goal Dirk made? I guess not. When any basketball player gets as famous as Kobe Bryant, acting is sure to follow. At least that.s the way Michael Jordan did it. Here.s the good news: Kobe may not be a better basketball player than Jordan, but if he does turn to film acting, he.s definitely a better actor.
