- The nine remaining teams travel from Kurihama, Japan to Lijiang, China. Frustration threatens to get the best of one person after their team loses all sense of direction on the way to the airport.
- Open with teams instructed to travel 2,700 miles to Lijiang, China and search for their next clue at the Jade Dragon Mountain.
Zev & Justin talk about how Zev has had a lot of easy legs so far. Kishs & Jen, the fourth team to depart, recall a rough history in China. Kent & Vyxsin talk about keeping things positive and immediately start fighting about the car and directions. They get incredibly lost in Japan and with three hours left before the flight leaves they are the only team not at the airport. Navigator Vyxsin blames herself and is so pessimistic she waves "bye-bye" to the camera. 50 minutes before the flight is to leave they are still not at the airport. As the "required" flight takes off for China, Kent & Vyxsin are just seeing signs for the airport. They take off on a different flight almost five hours after the other eight teams.
The first eight teams arrive at Kunming Airport and have the ability to decide whether to take a plan or train to Lijiang. Ron & Christina get tickets for the first of two trains, while the other teams get onto the second train.
Kent & Vyxsin arrive in Kunming about three hours after the second train has departed. They will not be able to leave for Lijiang until the next morning.
Ron & Christina arrive at the marked shuttle first only to learn it doesn't leave until 8am.
Kent & Vyxsin get on a plan which departs at 7am. The other eight teams all leave on the same marked shuttle at 8am.
With Kent & Vyxsin still on the way, the first eight team arrive at the mountain and spot water and yaks from the shuttle. Teams sprint to the clue box and learn they all must saddle and ride yaks across a precarious section of the river to receive their next clue.
Teams next have to ride a gondola up the mountain and find their next clue at Spruce Meadow. All the teams are noticing the altitude as they run.
All the teams (besides Kent & Vyxsin, of course) reach the clue together and learn about this week's Roadblock: One team member must search through tens of thousands of hanging charms for the 12 Chinese zodiac animals. They then must hang in the correct order in order to receive their next clue. Luke is selected, as is Cord, Cara, Mallory, Big Easy, Jen, Zev and Christina.
With the teams knee-deep in the Roadblock, Kent & Vyxsin arrive at the yak river crossing.
Luke gets to the end first, followed closely by Mallory and Christina. But Luke's charm order is incorrect and Mallory ends up winning the Roadblock. She and her father read that teams must locate marked buses and travel to Old Town Lijiang for their next clue.
Christina finishes the Roadblock second, just ahead of Luke and Cord. With Zev still wandering around looking a little confused, Big Easy and Cara finish. Jen completes her puzzle, leaving only Zev still looking for charms.
Kent & Vyxsin get on the gondola as Justin grows more frustrated with Zev. Zev finally finds his twelfth charm but doesn't realize he needs to hang them in order.
Teams get on the marked buses and leave the mountain. Ron & Christina appear to get on non-marked vehicle.
Zev still doesn't understand he needs to hang the charms in order and Kent & Vyxsin arrive at the Roadblock, picking Vyxsin for the challenge. Kent lies to Justin about why they were late (he says they had car trouble) and Justin clearly realizes that Kent & Vyxsin may still be facing a time penalty for missing the flight.
Ron & Christina figure out their mistake and the Globetrotters stop their bus so they can get on.
Zev still doesn't have his charms in order.
Gary & Mallory and Margie & Luke are first to Old Town Lijiang and read the next clue. Each team member must locate their zodiac symbol, write a wish on a piece of paper and deposit it in the correct slot to get the next clue. They must verbally announce their sign as they place the wish in the slot.
Those first teams figure out the zodiac wish challenge quickly and read about this week's Detour: Teams pick either Hammer or Horn. In Hammer tams must use hammers to pulverize hot candy using an ancient technique. In Horn they take a large ceremonial horn and lead a procession of dancers across town. Both of the first two teams pick Hammer.
Ron & Christina get to the Detour clue in third and pick Hammer. Fourth place Jet & Cord also go with Hammer. Flight Time and Big Easy get to the zodiac wish challenge fifth, but Flight Time has no clue what his zodiac sign is. As he goes through all the signs Jaime & Cara and Kisha & Jen show up. Kisha & Jen pick Hammer and Jaime & Cara are the first team to pick Horn.
Zev eventually realizes the problem was that he had two of the same symbol. He completes the Roadblock while Vyxsin searches for her final few charms. She is starting to panic.
Flight Time & Big Easy finally figure out their zodiac signs and pick Horn.
The first five teams work on the Hammer challenge. Jaime & Cara realize the horn is too cumbersome and decide to change to Hammer.
Vyxsin is now crying and questioning her intelligence.
Margie & Luke finish the Detour first and learn the Pit Stop is at the top of a hill in Old Town at a place called Eternal Tower. Jet & Cord and Gary & Mallory are right behind them, with Kisha & Jen a few minutes behind them in fourth.
Despite of Ron being Ron, Ron & Christina finish the Detour in fifth place.
Flight Time & Big Easy work on the Horn challenge as Jaime & Cara get to the Hammer challenge.
Zev & Justin pick Horn and we see Vyxsin finally complete the Roadblock.
Margie & Luke are first to reach the Pit Stop and Phil awards them a trip to Aruba. But they are not thrilled when Phil tells them they are still racing and hands them another clue.
The next group of teams reaches Phil in this order: Jet & Cord, Gary & Mallory, Ron & Christina Kisha & Jen, Flight Time & Big Easy and Jaime & Cara.
With Zev & Justin still working on the Horn Detour, we see that Kent & Vyxsin left their fanny pack on their gondola and didn't realize the fact until they had been on their marked bus for some time. As Vyxsin tries to explain to the bus driver that he needs to turn around we get a "To Be Continued" banner and the episode ends.
