On October 28, Paramount+, in partnership with Nickelodeon, will launch Star Trek: Prodigy, the first Trek series created specifically for a target audience of young people.
This is a show that comes to the table with an exceptional pedigree in creativity. Creators Dan and Kevin Hageman are a powerhouse brother duo with writing credentials for long-running popular animated series such as Netflix's Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia and Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.
At New York Comic-Con, they were joined by director Ben Hibon who brings experience in animation direction and design to the team. Together, the team spoke virtually with a roundtable of press members about the inspiration and aspirations of their fledgling series.
Not a children's show but also not in the vein of juvenile-yet-adult cartoons like Bojack Horseman and South Park, Star Trek: Prodigy harkens back to the epic adventure animated series like The Pirates of Dark Water and -- dare we mention it?...

“Star Trek” is bringing back another former Starfleet captain. Kate Mulgrew will reprise her role as Capt. Kathryn Janeway from “Star Trek: Voyager” for Nickelodeon’s animated series, “Star Trek: Prodigy.”
The CG-animated project, which hails from “Lego Ninjago” writes Kevin and Dan Hageman, “follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation.”
The series will debut next year.
“I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain Janeway, and I can’t wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in ‘Star Trek: Prodigy.’ How thrilling to be able to introduce to these young minds an idea that has elevated the world for decades. To be at the helm again is going to be deeply gratifying in a new way for me.”

Sony’s clearly feeling charitable as of late, as the company is currently running two massive, store-wide sales for all PlayStation 4 owners.
This time around, there’s no requirement for an active Ps Plus subscription in order to gain access to the impressive number of discounted games, though those who do have a recurring membership will, as usual, enjoy even further price cuts, as is the case with so-called Double Discounts. How it works is simple: any title included in the aforementioned promotion will be discounted by a certain amount (exact percentages differ on a case by case basis). If you have Ps Plus, the listed markdown is doubled, meaning, for example, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare‘s Digital Pro edition will be reduced from 35% off to a whopping 70%.
In addition to the above, a separate, more budget-focused batch of games are available for less than $20. Check out the lists...

In a rather surprising move, CBS Television Studios announced that they are in talks with Nickelodeon to put an all-new animated Star Trek series aimed at kids on the channel.
Details on the series are under wraps at the moment but what we do know is that writers Kevin and Dan Hagerman will be behind the series. The Hagerman brothers are 2 of the writer s behind a pretty impressive list of kids movies and TV shows such as Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, The Lego Ninjago Movie, The Lego Movie, & Hotel Transylvania.
If everything works out on this deal this will be the first recent Star Trek show, that would not be on CBS All-Access. The other shows currently on air or in development at the CBS streaming service are Star Trek: Discovery, which just started its second season. Picard (working title) which will see the return...

The new “Star Trek” universe could be expanding beyond CBS All Access.
Variety has learned that CBS Television Studios and Nickelodeon are negotiating for a new “Star Trek” animated series aimed at kids.
Plot details on the new series are being kept under wraps, but it hails from writers Kevin and Dan Hageman. The Hagemans are known for their work on animated shows such as “Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu” and “Trollhunters.” They also worked on the story for the films “Hotel Transylvania,” “The Lego Movie,” and “The Lego Ninjago Movie.” They are repped by Wme and Underground Management.
Should the project move forward, it would mark the first new “Star Trek” TV project to debut outside of All Access with an eye for it to serve as a tent pole series at Nickelodeon. The series would mark a major get for new Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins, who was brought in...

Alex Kurtzman and CBS TV Studios have set the latest extension of the Star Trek TV franchise. Nickelodeon is in negotiations for a Star Trek animated series from Emmy-winning writers Kevin and Dan Hageman, CBS TV Studios and Kurtzman’s studio-based Secret Hideout banner.
Penned by the Hageman brothers, the animated series is targeted at younger audiences. Because of that, it would be the first new Star Trek project outside of CBS All Access, which has an adult focus.
The project, whose concept is not being revealed, is envisioned as a major tentpole series for Nickelodeon under its new president Brian Robbins. It also marks a collaboration between Viacom and CBS Corp companies that likely will become corporate siblings as their parents are headed to a merger.

We can't wait for Netflix's November 20th debut of "Marvel's Jessica Jones" starring Krysten Ritter as a superhero who becomes a private detective. The noirish series, which received a great reception at New York Comic Con, costars Carrie-Anne Moss and former Dr. Who David Tennant.

But when the boys cross paths with the creature (Frank Welker), they soon learn that appearances can be deceiving, and Frankenstein is more misunderstood than malevolent.

(Cbr) Warner Bros. is at last ready to open its order from the Acme Corporation. According to Variety, the studio has hired "X-Men: First Class" writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz to pen its "Looney Tunes" spinoff "Acme." Steve Carell is attached to star, while Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, directors of "Crazy Stupid Love" and the upcoming "Focus," are in early talks to helm. As longtime viewers of "Looney Tunes" well know, Acme is a fictional mail-order company that features prominently in the Road Runner cartoons, supplying Wile E. Coyote with all kinds of improbable products, from a rocket sled to dehydrated boulders to earthquake pills. Acme also played a role in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" and "Tiny Toon Adventures." Warner Bros. bought the "Acme" pitch in 2010 from "Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu" writers Kevin and Dan Hageman, who had a hand in developing the stories for "Hotel Transylvania" and "The Lego Movie.

Warner Bros.. plans to expand the brand of its popular Lego franchise revved up today, as they have staked out territory for a spinoff feature modeled after the Ninjago toy and story line. Specifically, a Lego Ninjago movie will reach theaters on September 23, 2016, according to Variety. The trade notes that Charlie Bean will direct the picture, with Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (of The Lego Movie fame) producing. Bean.s previous credits include episodes of the TV series Robotboy and Tron: Uprising. This will be his feature-film debut, but it might look something like this: Lego Ninjas date back to 1998, when the toy company launched a line modeled after the mighty warriors. Recently, in 2011, the line was upgraded to revolve around Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, which inspired a Cartoon Network TV series and a video game. There’s no denying that Warner Bros. has struck gold with The Lego Movie, which is not only earning rave reviews but has just passed the $200 million mark at the global box office (which is pretty great considering the movie’s only been out about three weeks). The studio now has a hit franchise on their hands and a sequel has already been given the green light. Interestingly enough, however, WB now has a bit of a dilemma: with two Lego-centric movies currently in the works, which film do they release first?
Plans for a standalone film featuring the spinoff toy line Ninjago have been developing for a while now, and according to THR, WB must decide whether or not to build off of the momentum from The Lego Movie and move forward with its sequel, or fast-track the Ninjago film instead. The studio only has the rights to one Lego Movie sequel,...

There are two big things in the world that will always have a presence in my life: Marvel superheroes and Lego. When I was growing up, I never even dreamed of the two crossing paths, but we live in a world where the biggest brand names cross over without so much as a care. And it’s freaking awesome. Nowadays, Lego takes on the personas of any major franchise, from Lord of the Rings to Harry Potter. Recently, Lego joined forces with Marvel for a video game, Lego Marvel Super Heroes – it’s pretty great and you should try it – and is branching out into an online series.
According to THR, Marvel will launch the Lego Marvel Super Heroes: Maximum Overload online series exclusively on Disney.com, Disney’s YouTube channel and Disney’s Roku- and Xbox-connected TV apps. The five episodes will be released simultaneously and see Loki finding...

I.ll be the first person to admit how annoyingly negative I get whenever I.m talking about movies that are based on toy properties, with Trolls bearing the brunt of my sub-anger. But I haven.t got a single problem in the world with the Lego brand, which successfully transitioned into the video game market, as well as TV animation, with the Cartoon Network series Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. A couple of months ago, Warner Bros. announced they.d be producing a feature adaptation of NInjago, and they have just hired animation director Charlie Bean to helm the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Warner Bros. have chosen Dan and Kevin Hageman to pen the screenplay for a Ninjago movie. The duo have been given a "Story by" credit on The Lego Movie and worked on the Cartoon Network animated series, Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. Their credits also include Hotel Transylvania and its planned sequel. The Ninjago film will apparently take a different direction to the TV series, presumably meaning that it's not a spin-off or follow-up to the small screen version in any way. The hunt is now on for a director, although there's currently no word on who that might be. How do you guys feel about there being more Lego movies? Warner Bros. is so excited about The Lego Movie that they couldn't wait to get another Lego film into development! The movie is called Ninjago, and it's based on the existing toy line, which has already spawned an animated series on Cartoon Network called Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. Brothers Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman will be writing the film. They received story-by credit on The Lego Movie and also work on the animated series.
The animated series is set in the world of Ninjago, "a place inspired by Chinese and Japanese myths and culture and features dragons and mystical snakes like the Great Devourer. The main character is Kai, the red ninja of fire. The film will feature a new take that diverges from the TV series."
I'm not really familiar with the Ninjago toy line or animated series, but it sounds like it will make for a fun film.

Cartoon Network has revealed their 2013-2014 TV show lineup today and, much to the dismay of fans, confirmed that that “Green Lantern: The Animated Series” and “Young Justice” have been canceled. While this may not come as the biggest surprise for the “Young Justice” viewers who paid attention to both the series’ hiatus and subsequent cancellation of its comic book counterpart, the news certainly comes as a blow for fans. Together with the end of “Green Lantern: The Animated Series”, this leaves only “Beware the Batman” and “Teen Titans Go” as the remaining DC Nation shows, both of which have yet to premiere on the network.
While the absence of the shows didn’t necessarily cement the cancellation of the series, Giancarlo Volpe, the showrunner for “Green Lantern: Tas” confirmed the news via his Twitter stating, “This time we knew. They just didn’t want us to announce it publicly until they did.
