Over 1000 pages of dialogue was written with the players able to achieve a final tally of 186 unique endings.
Chris Hackett portrayed by David Arquette is the only character in the game to receive a unique musical cue for his introduction. The cue is guitar based and a homage to the iconic Dewey theme from the Scream franchise and the cult favorite Broken Arrow.
The prologue cutscene camera movement speeding through the woods is identical to the iconic demon POV made famous by Sam Raimi in The Evil Dead (1981).
Inside one of the cabins that you're allowed to inspect early in the game, a chainsaw can be seen resting on a counter with the word "GROOVY" on it. The "G" is hidden but this is an obvious reference to "Evil Dead" where Ash Williams' character uses a chainsaw.
When the lights and phone go out Ryan and Dylan argue, Ryan says "We're not in a movie!". Dylan retort's "Maybe that's what they want you to think" is a nod to the plot of The Cabin in the Woods (2011), a film about an organization that can manipulate the power, phones, environment, and characters to be sacrificed using horror cinema tropes.
