The class reunion
jotix1009 December 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Ray takes Kyla skating. Tanya, who has been frantic about what she learned about her, finally finds them at a skating ring. Tanya reveals the secret about Kyla, who is really a trans gender, whom for all practical purposes is a real woman, as far as anyone can tell. Ray feels he has made a fool of himself, never having had anything to do with having sex with a man. Kyla, he feels, did not tell him the truth; he feels cheated.

At the same time, Tanya reasons with him that with his money gone, the thousand dollars Kyla is paying to have Ray take her to her class reunion will help him compensate for the stolen money. Ray decides to go along, albeit reluctant to do so. The experience with Kyla served to unnerve him big time.

Tanya, with the help of Charlie, finds out Sandee and Jason have been the ones that stole Ray's red shoe box with all his money. They decide to pay them a visit. Sandee and Jason are scared enough to hide the fact both were in cahoots to steal Ray's money. Tanya and Charlie want to have it back, in spite of the fact Jason will be working with Tanya.

At the reunion, Kyla goes over to a man who was in her class. He has no clue who this attractive woman is. Then, there is the hunk that Kyla liked. She approaches him, and both talk, as Ray sits with a group of former jocks who identify him as Ray Drecker, the legend. The hunky man discovers Kyla is really Dan, and rejects her. The crowd realizes what is going on. Kyla is the object of derision. She feels it has been a great mistake to have come; she wants to flee immediately. Ray, looking at the people decides to do the right thing and stick to Kyla, taking her to the dance floor. Eventually, other couples begin to dance.

Lenore, spiteful as ever, decides to pay Jessica a call. She wants to take revenge on Tanya and her partner Ray. Tanya tells Jessica about the "wellness center", knowing in advance, Jessica will discover what her former husband is up to. At the same time, Charlie, the pimp, decides to serve himself to the proceeds of Tanya's red shoe box, taking all the money and walking away.

Bronwen Hughes directed the episode written by Eduardo Machado and Micah Schraft. This chapter deals with honesty and doing the right thing when everything comes crashing down on a person that did not deserve it. The small mind mentality of the class reunion attendees is what makes this a satisfactory show. On the other hand, Ray and Tanya are back to square one with all their money gone. Good appearances by Thomas Jane, Jane Adams and Rebecca Creskoff. Jamie Clayton, a trans gender actress does a fine job with her Kyla, a sophisticated presence with a sharp sense of self who has some torrid scenes with Thomas Jane.

"Hung" is not afraid to tackle adult themes as it shows with this chapter. It shows a tolerance and treats others with dignity who are different from what it is expected to be the norm.
