Oh For Heaven's Sake

Warning: Spoilers
Yes, the girl pretended to take the pill. She is not following her parents' orders. Don't damn the entire population because of her petulance. We don't judge "the spoiled youth" because of a messed up girl whose parents have dealt her a harsh hand. As far as Katrine goes, her relationship with Kasper is so tenuous. They are both dishonest and deserve each other. Katrine, taking those documents from the briefcase, is totally unacceptable. Kasper, stupidly leaving his really significant stuff where anyone can see it (especially involving the trip to Africa) is utterly ridiculous. He should have been fired for good long ago. As for the criticism of the Africa trip, this is a realistic view of world politics where one group has significant power. Also, have you looked at the situation among those engaging in genocide and ethnic cleansing. To get them to at least talk is a real coup for a third party. I found this part of the story thrilling. I suppose now the press will move in and accuse her of not telling them every move she makes.

Warning: Spoilers
Near the end of this episode, Philip insists that Laura take her pill and watches her do it. We learn when he leaves the room that she didn't take it after all. So she's as corrupt as the adults around her.

The sequence where Katrine goes through Kasper's briefcase was horrible and symptomatic. These are two people who constantly lie to one another as if it's a totally natural behavior.

Thank goodness for Hanne, who talks some sense into Katrine.

The rest of the story was relatively boring. Joachim Crohne is impressed that Birgitte is willing to seize the political opportunity of mediating two warring factions in Africa. But this is one of those "to be continued" stories, so we have no idea where this will lead to yet.
