Worst Episode? Really???
glennjamin8513 February 2015
I guess even in a solid show like this, there has to be a loser. When I first watched this, I didn't think it was really that bad of an episode, it had it's funny moments (Danny Devito standing in as teenage Frank, Reggie constantly getting screwed over, and the name of Frank's nightclub).

What sets this episode back is we don't get to see much of the gang, there are no callbacks to earlier jokes, and a lot of the story revolves around first time guest star Joe Polito. While he delivers a quality performance, he is unfamiliar, doesn't stand out as a character that much. I don't see any aspect of this story being thrown into the mix of later seasons.

Overall, the episode is by no means horrible, it just goes into unfamiliar territory. A little too unfamiliar for die hard fans.

Watch it again later

It's not the best episode. When I first watched it, I didn't feel strongly either way. After many rewatches it's pretty funny. I can laugh at it. If you think it's terrible, fine. It's still pretty in-line with the show at that point. It's really not that bad. I don't understand the negative reviews.

There had to be one bad episode

This episode is actually well made and very clever. It focuses solely on frank's teenage years to his young adult years explaining his life at a stereotypical 70's nightclub with his brother. The episode has funny moments after the back story ends but mainly the episode falls short in these ways:

.Frank, with the exception of Dee, is one of the lesser funny characters so focusing on him is a challenge altogether, plus Frank was very well behaved and thought things out rationally for the most part up until he lived with Charlie

.the gang makes an appearance only at the beginning and end

.There are no jokes to earlier moments in the series, which is a missed opportunity.

.Finally, there are hardly any "jokes" other than a few word plays and a 60 year old Frank playing an 18 year old Frank. The episode is very serious to the point where it becomes almost like a drama, and the comedy that is there is situational humor that is few and far in between and mild at best. If this had more comedy and focused on Frank's life while raising his kids it would've been a much better episode.

There is always that one bad episode and while this episode is not necessarily bad, it'd definitely the least funny and the "avoidable" one of the bunch.

Hold up, why is this one so low rated?

It's an absolutely hilarious episode full of great little one liners, really weird that it's got a lower rating than usual.

Didnt feel like a Sunny episode...

But the writing was descent. Would have been great if the brother was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger as a throwback to Twins.

Least favorite episode

Ok, honestly, I'm not a fan of Danny Devito in this show. He's just not funny and that's why this episode has such a low rating. He can't carry this show, let alone one episode!

Excellent episode, different to the rest

Strange it's rated so low. Very funny episode, different to the rest and a very sad truth behind the jokes, which gives it extra depth.

Not sure people disapprove because of the racial element, or because it's not focused on the gang's schemes. But not every episode should focus on schemes otherwise it's all the same.
