Those Crusading Reporters of the Air

I remember this as a pilot episode on HBO for a series that was not picked-up. Paul Reiser gives a rant about time-release aspirin, and Angry Arnie goes on and on about how cars are meant to be bumped, that's why they have bumpers. As a 20/20 parody they "investigated" the local "Tennis & Gun Club" to interview people who get paid to run around on the firing range so members can shoot at them since cardboard cut-outs don't break into your home to steal everything you worked hard for all your life. A studio interview with a real live Communist, with one anchor praising the guest, "It's a real brave thing for you to do Mr Kasperzak. How's your job at the Bi-Low grocery?" But the bit about the cremains getting poured into the ocean to get eaten by a big fish was so distressing it was funny. But the high point of the show for me was the clergy shortage from the RC church leading to a recruitment campaign involving break-dancing priests and nuns shown as a music video parody. A wonderful show, too bad it hasn't ever been made available on VHS, DVD, or Blu-Ray in the years since it aired in 1984. A jewel from early 80s HBO, should not be forgotten! I'd love to watch it all over again!!! If anyone has an old VHS copy from home recording, look me up on FB and let me know.
