This marks the sixth episode in which the rangers visit a foreign land. In this case, they visit a valley in the Himalayan Mountains of China. Previous trips include visits to London, Egypt, Spain, the Amazon Rainforest, and Ireland.
While the actual location of the episode is left unstated, there are some points of evidence that suggest that the rangers have landed in Shangri-La: the mythical paradise nestled in the Himalayas. Other evidence suggests that the rangers are simply in China. Evidence in that camp includes the architecture, clothing and names of the people, the presence of the emperor, and the statue of Buddha.
This marks the first episode in which someone other than Gadget drives a ranger vehicle. In this case, Dale helms a new Ranger Plane.
The episode title refers to the Igor Stravinsky composition: "The Song of the Nightingale."
