J.C. Christofilis knows the elements of a good gore film. Blades. The Undead. Heavy Metal. These are three of the central themes is Christofilis' Chopper, a web series adapted from Martin Shapiro's comic book of the same name. After a nine episode run that attracted over 1.2 million views on YouTube, Chopper is trending upward. The macabre story of a headless killer has been optioned into a feature film adaptation, which will be produced by Christofilis' company, Dilemma. Chopper started as a five installment comic book, but the web series was launched complementary to the print material and made its debut earlier this year. The series is filled with healthy amounts of gore and has a definitely exploitation film feel to it, which seems to be engineered in some capacity (some would argue that this makes the series less fun, but you're welcome to draw your own conclusion.) Given the...

The L.A.-based marketing agency Dilemma is seeking co-producers for a feature film adaptation of Martin Shapiro's horror comic "Chopper".
Described as a modern-day spin on "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", the story follows a headless motorcycle rider looking for vengeance in the afterlife.
Earlier this year, Dilemma produced an ambitious nine episode web series that introduced prequel storylines intended to set up the film (see the series here).
Tyler Mane and Andrew Bryniarski starred in the web series and will reprise their roles for the feature. Shapiro wrote the screenplay while J.C. Christofilis is producing. Shooting aims to begin mid-2013.

Variety report that a movie adaptation - described as a modern take on Sleepy Hollow - of Martin Shapiro's Chopper is in the works from Dilemma, who also produced the prequel web series starring Tyler Mane and Andrew Bryniarski. The comic tells the story of a supernatural headless biker named The Reaper, who seeks vengeance in the afterlife. There are beheadings, motorcycles, drug-peddling cheerleaders - all that lovely stuff. "Ultimately, the neverending viability of the horror genre combined with the exploding interest in shows like 'Sons of Anarchy' made my decision to bring our title character to life a no-brainer -- pardon the pun," said the writer/director of the web series, and the man who will work on the script for the movie with Shapiro, J.C. Ladies and gentlemen, Chopper has arrived. And the tense initial offering has set the stage for the horror that is sure to come. Featuring a showdown between horror big boys Tyler Mane and Andrew Bryniarski, the first episode of Chopper, entitled Slice 1, certainly does a nice job setting the stage in the biker-themed horror series.
The twisted mysteries of Chopper lie intriguingly ahead for us, but for now this seven-minute set-up episode is going to have to be enough. We haven't even gotten into the supernatural aspect of the series yet (unless you count the awesomeness of Tyler Mane's beard), and I'm already roped in!

Asylum Press is a company that, you could say, is well acquainted with classic horror imagery. Its comics and anthologies feature everything from zombies to the Necronomicon. Zombie Terrors boasts anything you ever wanted in an undead anthology: humor, irony, futuristic nihilism, rewritten history, and even culinary horror. (Who knew zombie meat was considered a delicacy among dangerous men?) And Jason Paulos’s Eeek! is a devoted love letter to classic horror magazines like Creepy and Eerie—complete with cat-eared, vixenly narrators and cranky old men with pointy beards.
Two new additions to Asylum’s catalogue take the brand in a slightly different direction. The first is Chopper, written by Martin Shapiro and penciled by Juan Ferreyra, which features a headless biker ghost on the hunt for drug-addled teenagers. The first issue focuses on a cheerleader, Christina, who peddles the drug. And boy, am I hooked.
