"Marvel's Agents of Shield" is only a day away from its premiere. The pilot is set up in a way that the uninitiated viewer can easily walk into the show without any background knowledge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and have a very enjoyable experience. But to have a truly informed viewing of the new ABC drama's first episode, it's advised to at least watch a few of Marvel's movies to have a basic understanding of what Shield is as an organization.
Shield, or the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, is an espionage and law-enforcement agency used to maintain the superhuman threats in the Marvel universe. Its most recognizable figures are Clark Gregg's Agent Phil Coulson and Samuel L. Jackson's Agent Nick Fury, as well as Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill, Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff, Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton and Maximiliano Hernandez's Jasper Sitwell.

The Avengers is set to arrive on blu-ray and dvd on September 25th here in the U.S. Actor Maximilano Hernandez who we've previously seen in Thor, Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant, and The Avengers spoke to WhatCulture about the Marvel One-Shot: Item 47 which is an extra on The Avengers blu-ray/dvd. On the plot of the Avengers short Item 47. Maximiliano Hernandez: Sure. Item 47 basically takes place directly after The Avengers. So, after the portal is closed [by Iron Man], my job was basically to collect the weaponry, make sure that it was securely put away by S.H.I.E.L.D. Offers up a bit more insight into the plot. Mh: Yeah, the Chitauri invasion that happened in The Avengers. Yeah, so that was basically my job. I was able to collect 46 Items and the 47th item kind of slipped through the cracks and was found by a couple, played...

Last month, a sneak peek was released for Marvel One Shot: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer, which will be included on the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger DVD and Blu-Ray release. Now the entire short has been released online.
Like the DVD and Blu-Ray exclusive in Thor entitled Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer stars Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson as he has a small encounter on his way to New Mexico for the events that unfolded in Thor. The Consultant helped explain the time between The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2, but A Funny Thing is less about timeline and more about showing Agent Coulson kick a little butt.

Story
When I first saw Thor I had some problems with it, I enjoyed it but it wasn’t fully there for me. It’s now been almost five months since I last saw it and I’ve been looking forward to giving it another go.
The movie follows our title character Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the arrogant but powerful God of Thunder who is also the son of Odin (Anthony Hopkins) the King of Asgard. Thor’s arrogance soon gets the best of him as his actions re-spark an ancient war between his people and the Frost Giants of Jotunheim. Odin banishes his son to Earth until he is considered worthy, during his time on with humans he befriends an astrophysicist called Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) who helps him learn what it means to be a true hero and find a way to return home. All the while with Thor...

Marvel Studios is giving fans a little extra in their upcoming DVD releases.
Yesterday's Thor DVD and Blu-Ray release included Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant, a short that stars Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson and bridges the gap between Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk, which both take place before Thor in the timeline of Marvel's Cinematic Universe.
The latest short, released by cinematographer David Myrick (via ComingSoon), is Marvel One Shot: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer, which again stars Gregg and shows what happened to Coulson before he arrived in Albequerque, New Mexico, for Thor. Gregg recently spoke to Crave Online about the short and what fans could expect.

The Film:
They say in movies anything is possible, especially with our current technology to bring our imaginations to life. But adapting Marvel Comics’ Thor? Why that would seem as silly as a big budget remake of Hercules in New York, and yet doubters be damned. Kenneth Branagh has delivered an easy-going, richly simplistic tale of the God of Thunder. As Thor tells Jane about the nature of his world, our world, “I come from a world where magic and science are one-in-the-same“, so true is Thor.
Premiering in Journey in Mystery #83 back in 1963, Thor has always been the odd-man out in the Avengers canon, due to his role as a God, where as the other superheroes are science-based. To make this film work, the screenplay had to be a delicate example of honoring the history of Thor from the comics, as well as acknowledging our modern reactions towards a...

Thor 3D Blu-Ray Limited EditionParamount Home Entertainment2011/Rated PG-13/Running Time 114 minsList Price: $54.99 - Available September 13, 2011Marvel's grand movie scheme had me a tad nervous about a year ago with the release of their sequel to Iron Man. The film was an entertaining and engaging follow-up to the 2008 original that established Marvel as a bona fide movie studio. It not only made star Robert Downey, Jr. a commodity in Hollywood, but initiated a plan where various comic book characters would be brought to the silver screen in separate yet interconnected films. The sequel wasn't as well made a film as the original, with its weak plot and rather poor story. It felt more like Iron Man 1.5 rather than a second chapter designed to take the series to the next level and that may be due in part to the fact that it was made so quickly. With Marvel's latest release,...

Last month, Marvel revealed plans to release a pair of short films aimed at tying up some of the loose plot threads left dangling by "Thor," the "Iron Man" films, and the rest of the Marvel movie-verse in the lead-up to "The Avengers."
The first of these short films, "Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant," is included as a bonus feature on the "Thor" Blu-Ray. However, since the Blu-Ray has arrived a little early in some countries, "The Consultant" has already found its way online.
Not only does the four-minute short bridge the gap between "Iron Man 2" and "The Incredible Hulk," it also answers three big questions that fans have been buzzing about as we get closer to "The Avengers." You can watch the video below for yourself, but you'll want to pay extra-close attention to make sure these three elements come through loud and clear:
