At about the 17-minute mark, Maura says that the teeth were removed perimortem. Jane says "Before they died?" Perimortem means at or near the time of death, not before.
Detective Sargent Korsak identifies the vehicle pulled from the lake as a 1996 Mercury wagon. It's actually a 2nd-generation 1992-1995 Mercury Sable wagon. Ford/Lincoln/Mercury completely redesigned the Taurus/Sable line for 1996. The 3rd-gen 1996-1999 Sable has no illuminated grille area, rounded headlamps, and significantly rounded hood and C- and D-pillar profiles, while the 2nd-gen model has lights spanning the full width of the nose, including the grille area, and straighter body lines.
Both Jane and Maura are slashed with a scalpel by Hoyt in his infirmary cell yet, only a few hours later in the birthday party scene, neither is bandaged.
